I have a cousin who has a PHD and she's living from check to check, working in a pharmacy,I also have another cousin who is mentally retarded and she has a bachelors degree, but she's working at a grocery store. Sometimes having a degree is as good as having a blank sheet of paper.

And ice is very buoyant. the schematic diagrams of the facility that Scarlett and Breaker were looking over didn't indicate anywhere near the amount of steel in the floating ice pack to weigh down those huge chunks of ice that were clearly descending into the depths at a high rate of speed. Additionally, the explosions would have fractured the ice at the stress points where the steel had been inserted and the steel would have dropped out of the ice chunks and sunk to the bottom while leaving the ice in its floating position. There are shades of blue, so there are shades of discussion/opinion. And sorry, posting that stuff about yourself came off as pretentious.

True, but one more time the movie right now is sitting at:
268,002,687, G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra - Box Office Data, Movie News, Cast Information - The Numbers If we assume that the LA times is right= 325,000,000 Joe still nees to make= 56,997,313 Do you really, honestly think it has chance at making that much? I mean, really? You can through that whole DVD sales thing out there, but 56,997,313 is ALOT of money. it's probably good for another $20 million worldwide box office, and another $100 million with home video sales, to gross $390 million. not to mention it was stated elsewhere that Paramount gets a cut of action figure sales too (which would account for the astronomical price of the toys), so the movie is going to make money for them. |

From the magazines, articles and websites I have read the same conclusion seems to be generated over and over. This conclusion has been summed up with the following words, "Underperformed expectations". What makes these two words so interesting is that I find two factors at work. 1) Everyone was hoping for a Transformers sized hit and that 2) No one thinks it was a flop. Underperformed as it relates to Hollywood Movie talk usual represents bang for the buck. If a movie loses money like the Land of the Lost debacle where it cost $100 million and made $18 million then the words flop tend to get used. If a movie makes $260 million on a $35 million budget the word Mega-Hit gets thrown around. The fact that Underperformed is the term typically means slightly more then break-even or percentage wise not a large enough tally to sate the risk vs. reward. I think it was last week's EW (but I could be wrong on the magazine) that listed out summer's winners and losers (Mania.com might have had it as well) and GI Joe was pretty much dead center. If you believe that to be true then I hate to say this to the arguers but you are basically both wrong. A failure, flop or bomb, I think not. A winner, hit or rockstar, I'd have to disagree. Where this is a plus is that a even an underperforming "modest" hit has guaranteed us a Sequel. Usually movies that bomb disqualify a sequel (at least a theatrical release - see Starship Troopers, Chronicles of Riddick and that Travolta as an Alien who Dianetics movie to prove my point, all of these were origianlly slated to have sequels prior to their flopped release). Now to get down to the argumentative nature of the thread...you both lose so suck it.... :P LOL |

I wish my wife knew how to make Star Wars references like that! Of course she might say the same of me with her love of Twilight...
