But, my reasons for disliking it are not because it's not the 80s GI-Joe. I didn't mind the new designs and concepts for the most part. I am buying the toys. It's simply the execution of the movie that I felt was bad. I think the concept of updating and re-inventing GI-Joe is good, I just felt the acting, plot, writing, and special effects of the movie were terrible and showed little effort. |

Excellent plan. It only took 27 years to happen the first time, so maybe we'll get a "right" G.I. Joe film in... oh... 2035 or something? By then I'm sure they'll be fighting for the chance to make a "gritty military drama" that everyone wants so much.

Seriously, what is the point of this thread? You start a thread simply to rub it in the face of those that liked the movie that its grossed a respectable $100 million? How asinine. What do you wish to accomplish with this thread? You are just furthering the rift that already exists on this board.
Great job. You're a hero.

A lot of haters are conveniently forgetting not only the international box office totals, but the non-toy merchandising as well. All that has already exceeded expectations. Then there's the future speculation on Hasbro's part. Successful numbers, such as these, show the long term possibility of more media tie-ins to help cement their new audience(the kids). Which means the possibility of: new cartoon, new direct-to-video animation, more books, comics and of course the freedom to really "go to town" on the figures for 2010 and beyond. Why else do you think there's SO many new things shown for next year?
Chicken Little can cry "the sky is falling" all he wants, but the success has already happened. People need to realize this is a GOOD thing and look to the future now. |

Come on guys, were all Joe fans no matter what your opinion of ROC was. This is getting ridiculous that a movie can divide people like this…

7 years is a long time in my opinion. Threads to genuinely discuss the movie/its box office gross are fine - just as long as people arent trying to start a "Flame War" which I suspect is the case here.

A bit slow aren't you...
Worldwide: $190,800,920 Wake up people (the ones who hate ROC)..don't you see this will be a good thing for GI joe as a whole. Exactly what MrClean stated above: "Chicken Little can cry "the sky is falling" all he wants, but the success has already happened. People need to realize this is a GOOD thing and look to the future now. |

So to break even we are talking about another $135 million...
Maybe that's possible since ROC hasn’t opened in all markets yet.
