As long as we keep getting Joes on the shelf to buy... I don't give a crap what the movie does! Just keep my money out of my pocket for GI Joe and I will be happy.

Hasbro owns the IP, but probably has to pay royalties on the likenesses (I think that's how Mark Hamil and Carrie Fisher survive, off Star Wars royalties, lol).

Nah, not really. The movie is floundering and will continue to flounder as the increasingly bad reviews and word of mouth spread. And no, I'm not grasping at a number because it validates my position. That's the number that is circulating. I'd say it has some basis in reality based on the extreme amount of advertising.
And the prices of advertising are pretty easy to figure. For example, a 30 second spot during the Superbowl alone cost $3 million dollars. That's for 30 seconds. Sure, regular advertising costs less, but the extreme glut of ads they pumped out for this turd definitely added up. You can try and deny it all you want...but the advertising budget on this had to be huge... I love the bury your head in the sand thing...it's cute. "Well...the numbers aren't confirmed so they're meaningless!" Please. It doesn't fit into your "ROC is a blockbuster" dreamland so just ignore it, right? You've seen how heavy the advertising was. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that cost a TON of money. To try and sweep that under the rug stinks of exactly what you accused me of: grasping at something because it vaildates your position. Sallah |

To head it all off at the pass...
Please provide proof that the international advertising costs are not part of the 150 million stated budget. So please, both sides, let's just avoid the back and forth that just went on with the 150 mil until Sallah provided proof.

K, thanks for the clarification. Took it to mean that international advertising would be tacked on.

Not to mention the fact that Hulk has a long established fanbase with a best selling comic, an iconic character that the entire world knows, and the fact that the first film was NOT a failure. It didn't meet all expectations, but it still made some money. X-Men is a huge property with a monstrous success at the box office. How does that even apply here? While Batman films severely declined in quality as they moved forward, but the franchise was still hugely popular and a big money maker. You're not talking about films that FAILED. These were all financial successes. The two that are questionable successes are Daredevil and Fantastic Four, and, surprise, surprise, there doesn't seem to be much rush to "reboot" those two. G.I. Joe has struggled to maintain an identity for nearly it's entire existence. Is it campy? Is it serious military action? Do they wear fatigues or neon, or fire machine guns or lasers? Hasbro has attempted to move G.I. Joe to Hollywood for TWENTY years, and only barely was able to make it work due to the otherworldly performance of Transformers. If you think all of these pieces will come together again magically in seven years so we can get a reboot the "right" way, you're delusional, especially if the film is this epic "failure" you seem to want to portray it as. *sigh* I feel like I'm constantly repeating myself. For one thing all of the above films you're talking about are owned by the companies that are producing the films. Marvel Films, Warner Brothers, etc...

Seriously guys? You hate the movie that much you'll make up lies? the worldwide total is $190,800,920 and the budget was 175,000,000 and to anyone that says that $89,612,376 is weak for a foreign box office then take into effect that 35 countries haven't even aired it yet. So shut up and stop bitching because if ROC does bad than you aren't getting any new toys for a while.
