** Please understand this is not a hater thread. It's an honest question!
I was checking out the box office totals and I'm getting a little worried about ROC. As of 8/16 ROC's only at $98,753,000. (This is according to boxofficemojo.com.) It's been reported that ROC cost $175 to make. Let's be honest here if ROC dose not turn an overwhelming profit we wont see a second movie. After a 58% drop in attendance in week two do you think that the DVD sales will decide the fate of GI Joe 2? |

It very well could depend upon the DVD. Not sure how those sales will do, either. I still can't believe they spent so much money just marketing this film.

I think this franchise will be alot like fantasic 4. The first one will do well enough to make a 2nd one, even though the movie wasn't good. The 2nd one will be made and most people will pass on it. The 3rd movie will never be made. Then 7-10 years later, they will start working on a reboot.

I doubt they will spend as much on a sequel, which they realistically shouldn't need to.
It should come out about even with all things considered (international revenue, etc), and the DVD and toy sales etc will bring a profit.

How often does a movie on Dark Knight's level come out? That's not a fair comparison at all.

I'm not saying its bad (havent seen it yet) or anything, but its obvious (by its weak mid-week performances) that it failed to capture the same kind of media frenzy that the original Transformers did.
People are not 'abuzz' with excitement on the street about G.I. Joe for whatever reason.
