When I watched G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, I noticed that the convoy part was somewhat reminiscent of the Opening scene in Iron Man. I have a feeling they shot in the same location. Considering the fact that they're both made by Paramount.
G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra Iron Man Why don't you see it for yourself if you think of buying the DVD or Blu-Ray. Anyone else agrees?

Could be Paramount saving money by recycling the same footage.

Not the same footage, but probably the same location.
That happens ALOT, used to happen more in the old days. But it makes sense when operating in a foreign country, you've already worked out permits/bribes/payoffs/etc.. before hand so you know what you're in for. You know how the light and sound reflects around the mountains, you know the general layout (best place to film from), you know the surrounding area and traffic patterns (if any). All that kind of stuff. It's alot easier doing things in locations you know then in new ones. There's a reason alot of movies are filmed in Prague.

Paramount did the same with Transformers and Transformers Revenge of the Fallen; used the same location for the desert battles: White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico. First movie it was Scorponok vs the rangers, 2nd movie it was the final battle scenes. If the site works, why not re-use it; easier to get the permission to film again (and again?).

I guess it could be. But the mountains and the distance from the road to the mountains are completely different in each shot. Grasping, me thinks.

Naw, that's just proof that it's not the same footage, but it most likely is the same location.
Why not use the same location for all the reasons already stated above. Ever hear of Old Tucson out in Arizona? It's part of a western town built in the arizona desert. Tons of westerns were filmed there because it was a read made set and controled conditions.

It makes sense to shoot a bunch of random convoy scenes, etc...I know it was big with star wars and Indiana jones. Same studio- prob a safe bet they used same footage- I mean didn't roc use footage from blackhawk down?
