Well I wasn't going to respond, since I thought if I did it would just drag it on with Eddie. But just to clarify...
I know the thread was created for haters, but it is public and anyone is entitled to post. Also I haven't baited people, just wanted to understand why they hold the view they do. The other point still stands - if people want a section where access is limited and not everyone has the right to post, then that's what a social group is for. I have no desire to force the haters off the open boards, or silence them, but I didn't think it was unreasonable to come here to seek debate to understand a different perspective. Oh, and none of this is personal at all. Still enjoy Eddie's posts and customs, Rocky's posts elsewhere etc etc |

Still, I still haven't received a satisfactory answer to my query which is why the movie is hated so much by people who fail to see the same, and often worse, flaws in the comics and cartoon. Which brings the next point... Is a fab suggestion and would be great. Again, my interest is in challenging views and having my views challenged, nothing personal. But as some of you insist, this is place to just say "boo, i didn't liked the movie" over and over again. Keep it. It is boring, pointless and leads to nowhere. *shrugs* In any case, babyjelly's post sums pretty much what i was thinking. I don't have a grudge with anyone here. Even when i lashed out just once because i was insulted, and had crossed sour words with CrimsonGuard101 -which, aside of the movie he usually makes very good posts- i still don't take it personally.

Oh, and none of this is personal at all. Still enjoy Eddie's posts and customs, Rocky's posts elsewhere etc etc This thread really is interesting, at first you see people just signing in b/c they in fact hated ROC. Then people come on and say- I hear a lot of whining, but no reasons as to how ROC could have been better. We the "haters" proceed to give detailed examples as to how it could have been better, and then we're attacked b/c we're not Directors or Writers so we should shut up. I'm not accusing you Babyjelly, you seem to barely be a fan of ROC to begin with, but part of the reason this thread is now 50+ pages is b/c we're just backing up our arguments. For of all you ROC fans out there, you just have to come to terms with the fact a LOT of people didn't like this film, doesn't mean you can't enjoy it. You see the "hate" popping up in all the threads, when someone asks something like- "which ROC figure is your favorite?" There's always a few people who say- none, I hated the movie, and I'm selling all my ROC figures. Is that really "hate" or a person just saying something you don't want to hear? This is a Gi. Joe site, if this many people hate ROC here, that's not a good sign. This film will go down in history slightly above "Batman Forever" and below Star Wars: The Phantom Menace. You can say I'm wrong, but time will tell. |

if you guys would LOOK AT THINGS FROM A DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVE youd see the rest of the world has already forgotten this movie almost overnight.
the movie sucked terribly. ive seen video game cut scenes that were far and away more intelligent and better executed. but you know what? the movie was enjoyable and corny. so who cares. MOD EDIT: Play nice |

A. Being a live action movie brings different requirements to the table. What works in a half-hour animated short or on the pages of a comic book doesn't always work live. And vice versa. Some changes are required. You can't compare apples to oranges. B. The comic ended a long time ago, and the cartoon was over before that. You can't measure a live-action movie released in 2009 to a comic issue released in the 1980's or a cartoon made in the 1980's. The comparisons just don't work. Furthermore, I don't think what you're saying is true. Most haters freely admit that there were seriously cheesy and stupid things that happened in the cartoon especially. Most of us can't believe looking back how bad they were. But we have the nostalgia to attach to it. With RoC, it's a relaunch of GI Joe. We don't have that nostalgic tie to it, so we're measuring it objectively. And it's been found wanting.

"If you were'nt to SOME degree entertained by the movie then you either had your preconceived ideas goin into it or you just are an inherently miserable person." Or posting that we can't tell good CGI or acting from bad CGI and acting because we don't do it for a living. The posts from dj7000 don't sadden you at all, huh? |

There's something very distasteful about anybody actively trying to exclude people from posting because they don't share the same view. If people are willing to post a view on the main boards you may expect it to be responded to by people, and as long as it's done without personal attacks, that's fine.
Look, picture this: I go to a public park, sit down in the middle of the left half of a very large field, and have a picnic with my family. Dispite the fact that there is more than ample room on the right half of this field, a bunch of high school boys come down and start a game of frisbee on the half that my family and I are having a picnic on. They run in-between us. The frisbee lands in the middle of our food. They're jumping over us and knocking things over. We ask them to move to the other side of the field, but they tell us its a public place, they have as much a right to it as we do. We tell them to move to the other side of the field. They say no, they shouldn't have to, it's a public place. The fact of the matter is, it is a public park, they do have every right to be there like we do. But they're still the ones being distasteful, not us.
