I seen it.. I LIKED IT! I seen it... THEY COULDA DONE ALOT BETTER! I f you take out the live action of the movie, make it into the 80's cartoon.. it makes it a whole lot better. You put the characters in their original costumes and makes the vehicles ORIGINAL... and you have a good cartoon with a good story and plot. BUT... THEY NEED TO TAKE OUT THE DUKE, BARONESS, AND CC TRIANGLE!!! Dumbassery in the fullest right there!

CC is The Barones' brother, Storm Shadow dies in the first movie, Duke hooks up with The Barones, and worst of all Scarlett hooks up with the black ripcord. No roadblock, stalker, doc, iceburg, colonel courage, or the fridge. No they cast heavy duty, who has a "higher" rank than Duke, come on. As far as being a "GI Joe" movie, thats a laughable pile of horse crap. It may have been an entertaining movie, but you would have had to have lived under a rock since 1982 to not be severely disappointed. This shit was worse than sigma six. Down right sac religous. Ill keep playing my Sunbow movies to the kids and act like this never happened. By the time they are old enough to realize it happened, they will have enough wisdom and insight to give it a collective two fingers up.

MAN HASBRO NEEDS TO READ THIS AGIN !!!!!!
Hasbro clarifies direction of G.I. Joe Movie November 05, 2007 A message on Hasbro's G.I. Joe news feed clarified recent stories that the team would be an international peace-keeping force. Hasbro’s G.I. Joe Team wanted to take this opportunity to clarify some of the facts regarding the G.I. Joe live-action movie that we are developing with Paramount Pictures. First and foremost, we are not changing what the G.I. Joe brand is about. The name “G.I. Joe” will always be synonymous with bravery and heroism. The G.I. Joe brand has enjoyed a successful 43-year history, spanning two key generations. The first was the line of 12-inch “realistic military” figures that were popular with kids in the 1960s and 1970s. The second generation, was created in 1982, and is based on a cast of fictional heroes and villains that make up the “G.I. Joe vs. Cobra” fantasy. The premise of this fantasy is the story of the G.I. Joe team, led by Duke, and their “fight for freedom wherever there is trouble” against the evil Cobra Commander and his Cobra force. This storyline was an instant hit with kids in the early 1980s, spawning a highly popular 3-3/4-inch action figure line, comic book collection and animated series. This movie will be a modern telling of the “G.I. Joe vs. Cobra” storyline and its compelling characters that Hasbro created 25 years ago. The G.I. Joe team will not be based in Brussels. Instead, they will be based out of the “Pit” as they were throughout the 1980s comic book series. And, in keeping with the G.I. Joe vs. Cobra fantasy, the movie will feature characters and locations from around the world. Duke, the lead character and head of the G.I. Joe team, will embody the values of bravery and heroism that the first generation of G.I. Joe figures established. G.I. Joe is a very important property to Hasbro and we thank all of our fans for their enthusiasm. Without all of you, the brand would not be where it is today. Thank you. |

This movie will be a modern telling of the “G.I. Joe vs. Cobra” storyline and its compelling characters that Hasbro created 25 years ago.
Unfortunately, this is a modern retelling, and not an exact copy. The G.I. Joe team will not be based in Brussels. Instead, they will be based out of the “Pit” as they were throughout the 1980s comic book series. How vague, notice they never said where the Pit would be located. And, in keeping with the G.I. Joe vs. Cobra fantasy, the movie will feature characters and locations from around the world. By this I guess they meant we will switch nationalities for some Joes. Duke, the lead character and head of the G.I. Joe team, will embody the values of bravery and heroism that the first generation of G.I. Joe figures established. Well Duke did lead it and I do not know any blocks of wood that have fear (see I called his acting wooden without spelling it out). |

I haven't seen the movie and it will probably long time before I will. On this thread people cite specific things they didn't like about the movie, e.g. plot, acting, C.G.I. etc, where as on the like "like," thread people who enjoyed the movie really don't go into specifics about what they liked about the movie. The general consensus is that thread is "it's a fast paced fun movie, things blow up, it has characters named Hawk, Snakes, Scarlett, C.C. Destro, and The Baroness in it plus the film is called G.I. Joe, therefore I love the movie.
My question is what is that these people are seeing in this movie that everybody else in the known universe is missing? People are also talking like a squeal is set in stone. Considering how this movie was received and how much needs to be fixed, how do we definitely know there's going to be a squeal? Maybe a reboot some years down the road, but a squeal based on this cluster fuck? If you ask me a squeal to this movie will do as good as the squeal to "Superman Returns." |

And what's wrong with that? Other than the fact that the 25 year history says SE and Scarlett are a couple...

Yo, check this out:
? "Leading the pack was Sony's District 9, which earned $37 million -- more than the $30-35 million it reportedly cost to produce. In second place was Paramount's G.I. Joe, down 59 percent from last week's opening to $22.5 million. Although it is on the verge of breaking the $100-million mark, some analysts are expressing doubt about the movie's ability to earn enough to justify its reported $175-million budget." They forgot to mention the hefty marketing campaign. |
