warrent officers are different from NCO's...warrent officers are also called mr. not sgt or anything like that...when i was in the army i dealt with my fair share...so actually, flint would be mr. Faireborn. but the could have been a sgt at one time...but the movie already messed up a bunch of ranks anyway...and some joes were from around the globe...

I think he was supposed to be Flint in the back of their minds.. b ut they didnt want to set anything is "stone".. no pun intended.. so they took the easy route & called him something else.. originally Im pretty sure they molded him to be "Flint"..

I read somewhere that he is actually called Thunderblast and the script originally had him driving one of the vehicles.

because you are wrong. having been enlisted to achieve the a WO rank is not the same as the WO rank being comparable to an enlisted rank.
Maybe Flint is Dusty. they both wear a beret and both were E-3's at one time -- Flint couldn't have advanced to the rank of a WO without having ever been an E-3. who cares if they have different file names and code names and birth places and histories. that's your logic. maybe Hawk in this movie was actually Falcon. they both wear a beret, in the DD comic Falcon wears a jacket, and being a General is the same as being a LT because he couldn't have become a General without having been a Lieutenant first. and both of their names are a type of bird. we'll ignore the differences between each character and just attempt to connect similarities to claim they make the characters identical. don't like people responding to your threads, don't post them. just PM everyone who you think will agree with you and ask them to validate your opinion. but if you post, you are asking for a response, whether in dispute or agreement. "having been enlisted to achieve the a WO rank is not the same as the WO rank being comparable to an enlisted rank." I was suggesting that perhaps by the sequel he may achieve a new rank and perhaps code name to follow. He probably won't, but I was, again, just free-associating. Conjecture is not a statement of fact, so I'm not really sure what it is that you're disagreeing with. You just seem to be disagreeing to be disagreeable. It seems to be your MO.

actually, he would be Mr. Stone. but I guess when he changes his code name to Flint he legally changes his real name as well. I wonder if that is standard Joe procedure. like a message board that doesn't allow you to change your board name once you are registered. you have to create an entire identity just to re-register and get a new account for a new screen name. I guess Flint just reapplied with a new name and nobody noticed who he was. voila, done and done. the Joes need to check IP addresses when they allow new members in to prevent this.
The rules of the regular Joe verse clearly don't apply.

He definitely went through several code name revisions before they settled on Stone.

sure, it's quite possible. so, he is supposed to be Flint, but has a different name, different file name, different rank, different specialty, but because he wears a beret it's the same character. by that logic, every character could be someone else if all the important traits, like name, filename, rank, and specialty are irrelevant to who the character is. what exactly is it about the character that makes him Flint if his name, rank, file name and specialty are completely different. Maybe Snake Eyes was actually Jinx because they are both ninjas. sure, they called him Snake Eyes, but the name doesn't identify who the character is supposed to be, just what they are calling him. and with Lorenzo DiBonaventura's take on the characters, that is quite possible.
not to mention the fact that technically, you can qualify to be a Warrant Officer as low as a Specialist, E-4, and never even achieve the rank of Sergeant before becoming a WO, so there is no specific correlation that either. And, that same logic got frontpaged because an asian girl on the team did a few martial arts moves. Is she Jinx? Who the fuck KNOWS?

I liked the Sgt. Stone Character in ROC. A nice not too cheesy Cameo for one of Sommers pals.
Next Movie I would love to see Gung-Ho and one of my all time favorites, GRAND SLAM !!!!!!!!!! Last edited by boomer77; 02-13-2010 at 04:23 AM.. |

Yeah! Regardless of who he is or if he gets shoehorned in as a regular character, Frasier was cool.
