I also disagreed with an interview Tatum did for Toyfare and Wizard magazines. He came off as a prick with no respect for the character. He mentioned that "Duke is a martial arts expert, only one step below Snake Eyes". I believe that Duke is a good hand-to-hand combatant, but many steps below Snake Eyes, and well below Scarlett.

The film would have been honestly rated "S" for stupid.

I just rented this last night from blockbuster and saw it for the first time and I have to say I am glad I never paid to see it in a theater and even more so that I didnt buy it.. I had no problem with Tatum or any other individual person, it was just the overall feel of the movie, it came of as cheesy. There were a few cool parts but overall I was let down.

I enjoyed the movie, but I greatly disliked Tatum's performance. His call of "Attention" in his first scene was so weak that I wonder why they included it in the final audio cut.
In my humble opinion, he was miscast. Despite his apparent age of 30, he looks too young and cocky. Duke is someone I always looked up to, a field commander with experience and enough guts that you would follow him into battle. Tatum is not that Duke.

Especially when he says "Attenshun" like he's embarrassed to say it!

I was watching the movie with my three kids and fast forwarded the more graphic parts of it but was also surprised with all the sh*t, g** d***, bast*** & other swearing in it. I did not notice it when I went with my friends and father-in-law to the movie in the theatre. They really need to cut that down in 2.

I think the writers and Sommers were the weakest link in the movie. Channing Tatum really did not add much to the movie, and certainly did not come off as team leader material. No wonder they wrote more lines and scenes for Quaid.

I still find it odd that his character was called "Duke" before joining the Joes. I guess Conrad isn't a tough enough name for Hollywood action films.
Heck, what kind of nickname is "Ripcord"? |

I suppose we should be happy, that with all the changes they made to the characters, they didn't combine Duke and Baroness and give us the all new G.I. Joe codenamed Duchess who had a split personality and fought for both sides... :P
