You ramp up a new cartoon prior to the next movie I would think would be the happening thing. Build a new ROC cartoon with a new vision that can transition into the new sequel showing the direction they are heading ... Of course this will take balls which from what a lot of supporters of the Hasbro business model state will never happen, but stranger things have happened in this world...

My daughter and I went to a 700pm showing on saturday in Killeen, Tx and it was packed in that theather! We actually enjoyed the film! yeah there were alot of inaccuracies from the Cartoon and Comic that i have loved for 25years plus, But it was my daughters start to this new joe we have now and since she knows the old GIJoe too. She can choose which one of the story lines to follow or create a new one. You need to see the film for your self and decide. I for one did and i Enjoyed it!
