I present to you the glaring and painful mistakes Ebert makes in his GI Joe Rise of Cobra review, all wrapped up in to one neat little package.
Jin Saotome's Dangerous Blog!: Roger Ebert, it's time to retire Ebert either wasn't even paying attention or he just read someone else's review and decided to glean all his info from that. It's a sad, sad day for movie reviewers everywhere. Time to retire Ebert, time to retire. |

Not a good review and I agree, I don't think he actually saw the film or he didn't pay attention.

I loved his 'lack of pyramids' comment when they were shown at the very beginning of the film. That made me facepalm.

He simply doesn't care/isn't interested. I won't say he should retire, but maybe he should only review movies he wants to see.

Hmmmm, classical music is reviewed by classical music critics, rock music is reviewed by rock music critics while indie music is reviewed by indie music critics, yet one film critic reviews all films in all genres.
My dad had one a few years back, is wheelchair bound and can't talk properly, yet he asked me if he could come to see the film with me as he thought it looked good. He at least appreciates that life (now more than ever) is about having what fun you can and not prattling out of your backsides to try and sound superior to the 'plebs'.

Indeed.
What's his gripe with Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje? Or Ripcord? Or scots? Or the fact that now GI Joe is international? Or that he doesn't know Cobra's nationality? Or ninjas and japan? Or female characters? Is it just me that sees a pattern here?

My mom had a stroke 4 days ago. She returned home yesterday, and i hear she called me in a hurried manner. I run quickly and there she was, looking the RoC tv spot...she said "isn't that a movie of those toys you like so much? Are you going to see it? Looks fun!" whit a big smile.

I find some of his comments about Adewale's name, and Ripcord are borderline racist.
I think it's definitely time for this old dog to be put down. |
