Sorry this one is long. Please write your own comment or suggestion
If I am involved in writing a script for movie adaptation of GI Joe, this is my version: The GI Joe have been established as a secret SpecOps (American one that is). But Cobra haven’t surfaced yet as a real threat. Cobra is actually a huge league of enterprises that thrive on world’s conflict and chaos. The organization masters advanced technology including the elusive cloning technology which is used to develop its legions of Cobra Vipers and other branches. Two of its enterprises: Extensive Enterprises and M.A.R.S actually serve as its front cover in the world. Extensive Enterprises (EE) is headed by two prominent executives and businessmen, who actually Tomax and Xamot (two best clones). MARS is led by James McCullen but he is Destro who researches and sells arms to both sides in conflicts. The Cobra itself is led by a mysterious man who was reported died in an accident (actually a fake one) involving the US government. This person has mad ambitions and holds a personal grudge against the world and also USA. GI Joe is currently recruiting new members including: Dusty, or others (you can synthetize some members since many of them have similar duties or expertise). General Flagg is the nominal commander of the Joes, Hawk is the team’s operational commander, with Stalker as 2nd in command and team 1 leader. Duke, Scarlett, Ripcord, Flint, Snake Eyes (not scarred yet) and several others have been team members. The Joes planned to designate new teams (to cooperate) with Duke and Flint as their new leaders and put team 1 as reserve. However Duke and Flint have their differences in running their team tactics and cooperation and somehow develop a friendly rivalry. This will prove costly. One day, Scarlett investigates and finds out the relation of EE, MARS and a secret organization which spread terror to the world. The Joes plans to put two teams to extricate Scarlett but don’t know nasty surprises await for them. When the mission starts, the Joes face off new enemies, the elite Crimson Guards and to make matters worse,Duke’s and Flint’s aren’t working well. Duke sends Ripcord and Snake Eyes to get Scarlett while Flint’s team provide them with supression fire. Ripcord (Marlon Wayans version, HAH!) and Snake Eyes enter the compound but go separate ways. Ripcord finds Scarlett is captured by two Crimson Guard commanders and tries to rescue her. The first one knocks Scarlett and together they turn to Ripcord. Both reveals their identities by removing their helmets. Ripcord recognizes the two as two prominent businessmen of EE. But since the twins don’t want any witness alive, Ripcord is gunned down mercilessly pointblank by the twins laughing (me too). Scarlett still conscious but unable to see the twins’ faces. The twins then escapes and leaves Scarlett in the compound ready to be blown up. Snake Eyes arrives and rescues Scarlett but at a horrible cost. Just as Scarlett comes out, the compound is blown out before Snake Eyes can get out. The mission has gone fiasco, Ripcord is killed and so some other Joes, Snake Eyes survived and is horribly disfigured. Duke and Flint blame each other for this. Hawk is disappointed and decides to freeze the teams and reactivate the first team and recall some inactive Joes. Stalker reminds Hawk of their past experiences as Joes’ team leader. Hawk changes his mind and decides to give the two teams by giving them rigorous training of teamwork and the pride of being a Joe. Meanwhile, the twins reports their success to the mysterious figure linked through teleconference. The plans of Springfield and Broca Beach will also included. James McCullen (Destro) also reports the development Vipers and the future android troopers (BATS). Destro urges the mysterious person to declare themselves and their intentions to the world. The mysterious person agrees and begins to hatch a plan: Conquest of the world. Meanwhile the Joes are licking their wounds. Snake Eyes is taken into Intensive Care, while Scarlett and Duke can only watch. Doc informs that Snake Eyes will never be able to talk permanently. Hawk takes full responsibility of Joes failure and starts the new training regime. Duke and Flint are blended into training along new recruits to learn being a Joe. Slowly the Joes recovered. Snake Eyes begins to learn sign language to communicate (especially to Scarlett, kinda to Marlee Matlin’s Children of Lesser Gods). When asked by Scarlett, Snake Eyes writes: No Remorse. Cobra wants to declare themselves to the world by infitrating a world peace conference. The conference is supposed to be guarded by multinational troops but they are replaced by legion of Cobra Vipers disguising. Cobra Commander then reveals himself and his intentions to the world. The Joes have to be deployed and Hawk has no choice but to deploy Stalker’s veteran Team 1. Cobra has actually expected the Joes arrival and through series of battle scenes, Stalker’s team is pinned down by superior numbers. Duke and Flint tells Hawk to deploy their teams and also to redeem themselves. Hawk relents and confers with team on tactics and alternatives. Duke’s and Flint’s teams composed a mix of veterans and new recruits storm to battle scene opening a second front and finally link with Stalker’s battered team. Cobra still have one more trick in its sleeves (bomb device or somethin’). But the Joes still have one option left. Hawk hurls Snake Eyes into action and saves the day. Cobra Commander escapes but does not disappoint with this loss. He says that this is just an opening move. He and other Cobra leadership lands on island (Cobra island) and are greeted by legions of Vipers (akin to Nurnberg rally of WW II era). Featured characters: Cobra: Cobra Commander, Tomax and Xamot, Destro, Baroness, Major Bludd (leading the assault on the world conference) Joes: Hawk (not yet a general), Duke, Flint, Snake Eyes, Scarlett, Stalker, Dusty, Ace, Wild Bill (or Lift Ticket), Beach Head (gruff drill sergeant), Roadblock, GungHo, Spirit Iron Knife, Low Light, Cross Country.and others. Plus Ripcord (Marlon Wayans cast) as cannon fodder. Vehicles: (not too futuristic) F-22 Raptor (Skystriker), SR-71 Blacbird (Night Raven), Humvees (Vamp or AWE Striker), upgraded Heli transport (Tomahawk) My notes: do not focus on characters origins. Please focus on their relationship, team tactics and how they fight in the battle scenes. As a fan those are I want to see in live action movie. The battle scenes should be directed like a Black Hawk Down movie battle scenes (Ridley Scott as movie director is OK) |
