This was an expensive movie to make ($175 million dollars). It's going to have to make quite a bit of money to absolutely "lock in" a sequel.

I would gladly pay $20-$30 dollars for a good "new and unique" figure but apparenlty that is too much for you to stomach so you knock it. I have no problem at all shelling out $100-$200 for sideshow figures, go figure.
As usual, I think it is time to say we "agree to disagree" since you choose to continue to try and take some personal high ground to maintain your point of view over poor old me. Too much effort on your part I guess.

Hasbro is a mass-retail toy business. They make toys that Billy Jo Soccermom is supposed to be willing to pick up off the shelf and buy little Jimmy when they're passing through the toy aisle at Wal-Mart. There's no way in heck that a toy line with $20+ dollar 4" figures is going to sell at mass retail. Push it to $50 and now you're talking a single 4" figure that costs almost as much as a video game.
What you're basically proposing is that Hasbro change the entire way they do business solely to cater to high-end collectors. That's an extraordinarily unrealistic expectation.

I guess I was labeled a "hater" when I first saw the picture of Cobra Commander and more and more leaks would come out but when the the new toys came out I gave them a chance and admitted that some were actually good and even better made than the 25th line.So I got excited and looked forward to the movie.I saw it earlier this morning and cringed during a couple scenes of the movie mainly the established backstories I already knew of for the characters.I understand Hollywood had to create new backstories that would fit in a 2 hour movie for the average non-Joe fan to understand but some of it was just too far off the map for me.Duke didn't seem like the Duke I know of.Hollwood wanted too much to give this one an urban edge like he just came out of a Fast and Furious movie.I must say the Neo Vipers look better on film in action than they do in toy form specifically the Viper Commandos and I actually want the Cobra gunship now and a Viper Commando.I think the Snake Eyes and Stormshadow interaction is what I enjoyed the most(I expect kids to eat this up and fewer Snake Eyes figures on the pegs),the Ripcord and Scarlett romantic buildup I disliked the most and was not necessary.I like the little nods to the old series with cheesy lines like "Real American Hero" "Kung-Fu Grip" "Knowing is Half the Battle" and Breaker blowing a bubble gum bubble.A lot of the CGI was clearly not good on several occasions but was better on some seeing Destro and the "Commander" put on the mask at the end was bad enough people were laughing but at least it wasn't long.Lets hope they make necessary changes for the sequel. All in all if you like a Sci-Fi Action film then this has plenty of it.If you're a die-hard 80's Joe fan you have to leave all that behind you when you enter the doors or some of the movie will be very unpleasant.A good action movie this is.A great 80's Joe film it isn't.The movie will do fine in the box office as it will appeal to its target audience of younger kids and teenagers. All of this is clearly my opinion so I don't need people to get all uptight if someone doesn't have the same likes or dislikes as themselves

Ok first off I despise the term "Hater"
Now that said I want those 2 hours back. This was one of the worst movies I have ever seen. This was as bad in my mind as Ang Lee's Hulk. The entire Paris sequence is the worst thing I have even had the displeasure of seeing in a movie. The first and Last Ninja Fights were pretty good, but as a whole it was a CG suckfest. The only condolence I can take is I did not waste any money in seeing this.

Black Eye Peas during closing credits? Lumpy-headed maskless Destro. 170 million? Where?
Ripcord? Stupid. Not because they changed his race, not because Marlon played him, but because they choose to even have Ripcord in the movie. That baffles me. There's alot more interesting characters to debut in this introduction of G.I.Joe on the silver screen. These are just small tiny problem to a very long list of of idiotic moves on the part of Hasbro, for letting this beloved line of toys become an unreconizable mess. I'm not gonna elaborate too much as I will be giving it a second chance. I need to take my son, since it seems to be geared towards the youngstas. I didn't vote since I am somewhat on the fence. I wanna be able to give it the benefit of doubt. For now, I'm extremly happy with the majority of the figures. I'm happy cuz G.I.Joe toys are bum-rushing the pegs strong. Its great to go to Wal Mart or Target for water, soda, milk and cereal, and finding large quanties of Joe's. See you at the movies...again. YYYYOOOo JJJOOOO...F*#k it!

I supported the movie all the way. And, now that I've seen it, I LOVE IT! I thought the movie was 100% awesome and blew TF away. RoC introduced a new twist to the GI Joe storyline. It had a bunch of great references to the classic stuff for all of us who have grown up with GI Joe. And it also introduced a lot of great new stuff; not just for the new generation, but for us, as well. I was looking forward to something new and fresh to look at. I don't want to see a recreation of the 80s show into live action.
My excitement has been building up for months and months and months for this movie. As the time came closer to watching the movie, I could hardly contain my excitement. All of the joy of seeing RoC was reminiscent of elementary school days when I would rush home to watch the next episode of GI Joe. At last, we have a live action GI Joe movie! And it ROCKS!

. . . . . . .
I don't like Stephen Sommers. Not Mummy, def not Van Helsing. Been too long since I saw The Rock, but I remember not being impressed with it.
. . . . . . . . . . .
I don't know what I think of the GI Joe movie overall. I may not know until the full trilogy is complete.
