Just saying this again to be sure:
Think carefully about bringing young kids to this: It's rather violent, and at times gruesome. |

*sigh*
I left the theater dissapointed and had to explain to my girlfriend for like 45 minutes the various ways they destroyed the beautiful gi joe comic book continuity. Please excuse me while I go cry myself to sleep. On the plus side, we will probably get a sequel. Hmm I can't think of any other plusses. Why did they have to make Snake Eyes so lame??? What happened to the epic love story between Snake Eyes and Scarlett?? If they could have left that the same I would have been able to stomach it. WTF is with the ripping off of Star Wars? And what is with the lame ass camo outfits?? They should have just given them typical Special Ops gear they would have looked way better. And they made Snake Eyes seem like a freak!!! He didnt seem like the deadly mysterious badass mofo that he is!! WTF IS WITH HIS OUTFIT? I am just glad I read the book before I saw it, because I knew what to expect. And don't even get me started on Cobra Commander. I can understand the fact that they can't make a movie with 20+ years of continuity, but they changed stuff that SHOULD NEVER BE CHANGED. EVER. At the risk of sounding cliche like everyone else, they raped my childhood, 'cause its all about the comics for me. P.S. Stephen Sommers sucks. 'nuff said. |

The doctor that Baroness was left with was credited as Dr. Huntkinder.
The Balloons in the French Science lab, very reminiscent of the ballons at the start of the 1987 movie.

I Loved it, from the first frame, to the end credits! BRAVO! Some of my fav parts, I loved it when Zartan was in the Pit...Whistling (Which later on is such a key part to his story in all of this). The Sunbow esqu gladiator training of duke vs. snake eyes, (Very cool cameo with brendon frasier). Destro......OMG he was in every way PERFECT, A master villian, my God there was just so much, even the pull away scene with Duke and Ana towards the end with the FLAGG! Every shot had so much to absorb....If I can sum it up with but 2 words.....YO-JOE!

I saw it last night on preview in a half filled theatre and I had mixed feeling and got mixed feedback. My girlfriend hated it as it was so dumb, my friends that were there liked it as it was pretty much non stop action.
Myself I had mixed feelings, as a fan of 25 years of continuity I was disappointed, but as everything gets rebooted these days I wasn't expecting it to be true to what makes me love GI Joe so much. This film was a big ball of dumb noise, with little depth of character and really lame dialogue, and however designed cobra commander's mask needs to be shown what he looks like. And yes, as the script was turned around in 6 weeks it "borrows" like crazy from everywhere, but I couldn't hate it. It was fun, plain and simple and Summers did an ok job. I'm sure if you're 9 years old you'll love it, and that's who it was made for, and if it means new fans coming and discovering and learning about the history of the Joes, then its a good thing. Just keeping my fingers crossed that the suits are gone in the next one. |

My only gripe is how all the characters were somehow related in life in 1 way. Yeah we all know about SE and SS. But the other triangle? WOW?! I thought it was a good movie and I'll go see it again. I guess I was so excited to actually see it in the theaters and that's what made it awesome. Some of the movie was kinda gruesome, but other than that.. I think it did what it had to do. I wished it wasn't so Sci-Fi though.
