ok mars was selling weapons to both sides in the 1st movie right..
Now that Destro is confirmed as a villain he could start by tacking back his tech from the military. The joes would have to go kinda old school using the equipment that was available before Mars came along…Boom you got your Joes looking all ARAH problem 1 fixed Cobra commander uses the nanomites to fix himself where he doesn’t need that ugly bulky mask anymore And then would only use his new yet classical mask as an icon trying not to put a face on the organization. Problem 2 fixed Storm shadow pretty much got his duds cut to hell He simply goes back to the arashikage temple and dons his real white ninja suit from back in the day. Problem 3 fixed Destro makes himself a suit with rocket gauntlets so he’s not such a puss anymore. Problem 4 fixed I can’t fix Tatum…my mind cannot fathom a solution to the ghetto duke.. I can’t come up with anything to save zartan either he’s just some old bald guy in a suit and that’s the end of it…If he started wearing make up and a hood now he’d look like he was out of his mind..and zartan is supposed to be smart…all he could do is be in a desert disguise through the movie…and that is not a very good solution.. Anyway I thought these were pretty clean solutions to some of the gripes about the 1st movie. And trying to bring it back to the ARAH fans. Feel free to share your ideas on how YOU would improve the next movie. I’d be really curious to see what everyone wants from a Joe movie and what their solutions would be as far as fixing what has already been written. |

There are some decent ideas there...
I like the idea that the Joes cannot use MARS tech anymore. Maybe Destro can deactivate all of his weaponry, forcing the Joes to use old school weapons. The Storm Shadow idea is great, except I would like to see him crawl back to his old "Water Tower" hideout on the roof of a New York City building that he used in the comics. There he can fetch his old costume and swords! Hopefully, they won't disregard Zartan in disguise as the President. There are a few interesting problems that could cause for the world and the Joes. The only thing I really don't like is that Scarlett got cut from the sequel. I think her on the motorcycle was one of the cooler parts of the flick! I will always wonder why they didn't make a box set out of that! (I know, I know... girl figures don't sell! Tell it to Princess Leia's 50th figure!)

Actually, I don't see a pressing need to bring back CC or Destro in the sequel, especially if they are aiming for a "lighter" film due to the smaller budget. But I do think the "president replaced by Cobra agent" is a GREAT hook to work from and I hope that is kept.
I think there are two key areas the next GI Joe film HAS to improve on the last: 1. Visually, RoC felt rather "generic" with everybody looking the same. Regardless how realistic that may be (I was personally amused how people were often arguing for a "realistic" Joe and then bitch about all the uniforms being the same), they HAVE to give each character some unique design elements. Just look at Transformers 1, where the desert spec ops guys all had individualized takes on a basic uniform. The bad guys HAVE to be memorable. Personally, I think Crimson Guards would be a GREAT choice and add a nice visual flair to the film (Ideally, I'd keep the classic helmet, but use a body design similar to the 2003 12" figure: YOJOE.COM | Crimson Guard Carded ) 2. The next GI Joe film NEEDS some neat, memorable action sequences, it doesn't have to be elaborate, but for all the fuss over the water battle and accelerator suits, the last GI Joe film felt a bit "pedestrian" against giant robots, space ships and superheroes. Films like "The Island", and the last two "Fast and Furious" films show you can make decent action sequences WITHOUT blowing a huge budget. Here's an example sequence: Joes find out Zartan is the president. They have to break into the White House, but face Cobra anti-air stations (ASPs!) and Secret Service (possibly replaced by Cobra agents as well). What do they do? They get their Jump jetpacks (maybe launched from a stolen yacht piloted by a salty seadog) and after evading jets, ditch their packs to air glide in (ala, Dark of the Moon's sky suit scene). They then have to evade/remove Secret service without hurting them (until Crimson Guard commandos show up and kick up a full firefight). Not hugely elaborate, but features elements that make it unique in a summer where it will be against Batman, Spider-Man, Avengers and maybe a STar Trek sequel. If they can address those issues, anything else is just icing IMO.

I don't feel so, at least not as far as the movie is concerned. As a "cartoon guy" myself Scarlett was never a huge element there either, and much of her "integral functions" can largely be done by Lady Jaye

My idea would be to abandon what didn't work. Who cares if they recast Duke? It's fantasy. Better to recast an actor that is tailored to the role than to stick with one who isn't. Same with every other deviation in ROC that was made in the name of artistic integrity. But, this isn't about staying true to the mythos or comic or cartoon. It's about politics and money.. the two agents that complicate most things in this life..
People who piss and moan about the liberties that were taken in ROC are made out to be whining children around here without mention of the fact that they make really good points. Change Tom from Tom & Jerry into a dog or Bugs Bunny into a Turtle and see if people don't raise hell. The reason why? Because if you change the characters too much, they aren't those characters anymore. In name, yes. But that's it. And yes, that is something to take issue with.

Good point!

ok.......... or
Zartan is the President so he disbands the Joe team. They have to go "underground" to the original PIT and use the old stuff they had in the 80's under Colton. Duke is captured in the first five minutes so he is in the picture but pretty much out of it the whole time. Everything else is just cosmetic |
