I have been curious about this..
Zartan is like an 80s rockstar with a hood and body armor...that is the character...in the movie he was just a normal dude with the same name.. he could just as easily been scrap iron or fire fly but looked the same...a guy in a suit doesn't look like anything. some fans out there actually like the movie zartan though so I wonder if that means they don't like the actual character he came from...would any tankers out there care to share their thoughts about this? |

I have been a Zartan fan for years.... since 1984, when this intriguing character first came out, as a matter of fact.... and I loved the movie Zartan. Vosloo was picture perfect as the Zartan. Period.

I love what they did with the movie Zartan. As well as the Zartan from Renegades. both are great to the Zartan brand!

Yeah the actor was perfect to play Zartan. Just didnt like his look and attitude. He shoud've been meaner and not as proper.

Liking Zartan for what he's dressed in seems kinda odd. It's the concept of the character that is so interesting. He can be dressed as a nun through the whole movie and still be Zartan.
Vosloo just captured the right attitude of the character...

Zartan is by far my favorite GI Joe villain, and I think the movie got him pretty much perfect. He was the shining star in an otherwise disappointing movie.
I don't mind that they changed his look (in fact I think that was a good idea), but I think they did a good job of keeping the character fairly intact. In the movie he was a master of disguise and very competent. That's pretty much Zartan in a nutshell to me. Obviously, he played a pretty small part in the movie so they couldn't go too deep into his character, but when he was there I thought they got him. |

Maybe if some fans realized that people are allowed to like more than one interpretation of a character, we'd have a lot less conflict here on the site.
More on-topic, I liked the old Zartan just fine, even if it never made sense to me why a guy with his skillset spent his time hanging around a bunch of moronic, borderline-incompetent bikers. So: Zartan fan yes, Dreadnok fan no. Movie Zartan, however, was on a whole different level. Vosloo took what was a small role and nearly stole the show with it. In fact, I would say that RoC did for Zartan what Resolute did for Cobra Commander: It gave him credibility as a truly threatening, badass villain. In case you haven't noticed, "attitude" takes a distant back seat to "looks" in the minds of several posters here. Last edited by Jmacq1; 07-12-2011 at 01:03 PM.. |

There is definitely the question though, which ARAH version of Zartan is the original poster talking about. Because in the cartoons, yeah there wasn't a whole lot to Zartan, but in the comics he was a key character. |
