One thing I notice is when people talk about the score of the movie and all the music choices being bad, I think about it and realise, I don't remember ANY music at all except for the end credits music.
Now one could say that the music was so boring and understated that I completely glossed over it or one could say that it merged and flowed with the action on screen so perfectly that you don't even notice the music. I don't know which would be more accurate, I just find it really odd that I can't remember any music

I saw it. I dug it. There are several things I really don't care for, such as Ripcord (his character just didn't work for me) and the Duke-Baroness relationship. But overall, there are a ton of fan nods that I found throughout the film that just rock. I loved Breaker's bubble gum scene and the "knowing is half the battle" line by Hawk. The CGI was really bad throughout the movie though. Like really fake and didn't blend well at all for me.
The best part of the movie for me is Zartan. His sub-plot was the best one and was awesome! Loved this Zartan! |

Movies that have a score that I really like always resonate with me during the first viewing and make me want to go out and buy the score immediately after leaving the theater. Then there are scores like this movie or Batman Begins that are just so boring that I can't even remember one single theme 5 minutes after the movie ends. I have a friend who thinks the exact opposite and sums it up as your latter explanation did.

One last bit, as much as I think of Destro as the master strategist, I loved that they had Cobra Commander running a long game to use Destro to create his army for him. That's the conniving, slick mastermind I remember CC being

Some light applause at the end of the flick which made me think the hardcore audience had mixed reactions as well. |

I enjoyed. I was just dissatisfied with the ending. First Cobra Commanders voice, it sounded like Destro's from the cartoon. i was already let down my the mask he put on, but then the voice.
Second they should have not shown Destro and Cobra Commander jailed but ended with the scene where they are under water and left a hint of a big fight starting off with the next movie and cut out the Baroness and duke scene and wrap it all up w/ the zartan ending. MAJOR character history changes, but it IS a good movie and I see franchise potential. But definately in the sequel give Cobra Commander his normal mask' and a voice we would love. Make Baroness the villaness we know. Give Zartan a darker role and better (more to original) look and give us Flint & Beachhead. |

Saw it, liked it. We've been waiting for this since childhood. We may have liked to see some things done differently, but it is GREAT to see g.i.joe finally on the big screen (how could transformers have eclipsed g.i.joe nowadays?) It is a different continuity than us thirtysomethings are into, but there were a LOT of nods in our direction.

I forgot to mention that the score was by Silvestri. He has composed some memorable scores in the past: BTTF trilogy, Predator, Roger Rabbit and Forrest Gump. But it's been years since he really did a great score.
