Again ROTF, bad comparisson, sequal to a movie that did well at the begining of the summer makith not a comparison to Joe.
Just because the bro is behind both don't mean squat. Besides the average public is much more excited about Giant Robots done by Michael Bay, than nanomites done by Steve Sommers. Quote:
GuslingerCbr, I'm very sorry man but you come off as really hostile. Why do you challenge this other poster like you do? You're seriously talking down to him and it only makes you look bad. I hate to interject like this, but I wonder if you could leave the personal insults out?

I liked it.
I went in with an open mind. I enjoyed it very much for what it was and all the nods for us old folks. This Movie is basically a Sigma 6 version of G.I. Joe and that's what bothers a lot of you. Did you notice the Sigma 6 logo in the closing credits when they're showing all the decals? Maybe what some of you need is a shot of nanomites to watch the Movie for what it is and stop blasting the Movie before even watching it. |

The movie by it's self was not bad, but when they say "based on" then thats what gets this film under the microscope...

Really enjoyed it. I'm hoping they up the stakes for part two. I'd love to see Zartan have more screen time and go blitz with his Dreadnoks.

Just got back from the GI JOE movie. Let me say first that i am 36 and liked what GI JOE cartoons i saw and played with some of the toys. so I am not a huge honkin fan but i did enjoy it as a kid. but if you watch the cartoon now it's pretty crappy.
Now to the movie....... It was frigin SWEET!!! loved every minute of it. Great story and action from start to finish, it was everything i expected it to be. It is leaps and bounds better than Transformers 2 i would give Gi JOE 10 out of 10 just for pure entertainment. |

I just got out of the theatre and I went in with an open mind and Hollywood realy screwed this one up. Here we go:
Awful how the Baroness turns good at the end. The Baroness is the most devoted Cobra there is. Baroness would NEVER betray Cobra or Destro for the GI JOES. Especialy since destro is her man and CC is her brother. Awful how Channing Tatum is aloud to be in any movies at all. This guy is not just a "bad actor" He really can't act period! He mumbles and uses no facial expressions or inflection of his voice. He makes Mark Walburg seem like an exciting guy. So unlikable! Oh and he gets one over on Snake Eyes in a sparing/training match? Come on, so dumb. Duke Sucks! Suprising to me, Marlon Wayon, who I was dreding, did a pretty good job except for his little racist white couple comment. The Storm Shadow Snake eyes as kids thing was way off. Why did they meet as such young kids and why could Snake Eyes already fight like a ninja as an 8 year old? So dumb. I wish they would have stayed closer to the comic or even the cartoon. ALOT of other things where awful but there were some good things about the movie to balance out this reveiw. Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow are really the only cool things about the film. The mouth on Snake Eyes made me feel like well now he can breath through his batsuit. Lots of action and the vipers were cool. I liked Heavy Duty too. The next film needs a new originalist writer and a new Director. Sorry Sommers you just don't know or care enough about the characters to do a descent job. |

I just got home from seeing the movie and I am still kind of taking it all in. I will say one thing for sure, I did not hate this movie at all. I can't believe I am saying this now, but I actually think the movie captured a lot of the same spirit and energy that the old cartoon had!
I know a lot of back stories and characters were changed for this movie as well, but it didn't bother me one bit. I do think Snake-Eyes character was not as good as it could have potentially been. Without giving away anything, his motivations and reasons for being like he is are somewhat lessened in the movie compared to the comic. Ditto for Storm Shadow as well. However, the changes made in regards to the histories of Duke, Baroness and Cobra Commander did not bother me as much as it seemed to do for other tankers on here. I feel as though most of my gripes with the movie have already been repeated and debated ad nauseum on here so I won't really nitpick and dissect the movie apart. Overall, here are my feelings. Story: Kind of messy and all over the place, but it's neither awful or great. I felt it blended a little reality with enough fantasy and sci-fi elements to make it an entertaining thrill ride. Character portrayals: I liked almost everybody in their respective roles in this movie. Tatum is a little wooden and stiff and Quaid was sometimes too melodramatic. Some character motivations weren't really well defined and others just seemed rushed. Visuals: Sometimes the FX shots were pretty damn good and then other shots looked really bad. Kind of all over the place. The Paris scene in the streets was downright exciting and was the pinnacle of the movie in terms of action! The editing was also sometimes bad and then sometimes pretty good just like the visual effects were. Sound FX: Awesome! Even the battle at the beginning reminded me of the old show! Music: The songs useed were kind of annoying and typical of most big budget action movies now days, nothing unique or that good. The score was also very mundane and boring. Wish the score would have had better, more memorable themes (I'm a huge movie score fan so this kind of let me down). Overall I have to say the movie achieved what it was intended to, and that is too entertain and provide some escapism and fun. I found this movie to be fairly sloppy story-wise but it also made up for those shortcomings by providing some very fun and action-packed scenes. I also think it managed to avoid the extremely tasteless and juvenille humor that the Transformers movies embarassingly had. The violence was also much more graphic and realistic in this movie than I thought it would be, which I thought was a good move. Overall, I give this movie a 6 out of 10. I think most Joe fans will get a real kick in the pants while watching this. For those of you expecting an exact replica of the cartoon and comics you are obviously going to be left feeling disappointed. I really hope the movie resonates with the kids because I could see some really cool characters and stories being used for the sequels. I will admit I had very low expectations for this movie for quite a long time. I will also admit it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Hell, it was actually pretty damn fun to watch! But, I'll also admit that I think it could have been better and so much more. Yo Joe!

One thing I liked from this movie is that it still keeps the essence of the original 80's team in terms of having a small unit of commandos to carry out their missions. However, from the beginning I found the characters' interactions kind of cold, and gijoe was all about comradeship. Cover Girl for example. Anyone, not even Hawk says a word about her (his "right hand") final status (which in part was good because the fantasy may allow to bring her back- -perhaps her camo was like the clothes that turned Scarlett invisible or it was Doc’s day for miracles, etc. ).
But, speaking about her, in my opinion, Cover Girl's character was totally disregarded once again. I am glad to have her back, but she was a model turned soldier (a member of an elite group), not a secretary. Improbable, but since her death was not confirmed, and since the bad guys could survive worse things, then if a sequel is made, the fantasy should allow her a chance to show Zartan why she got to be a joe, now that would be something different. Besides "losing" one of my favorite joes, I think ROC is an entertaining movie. Not buying the toys however. PS: Is Hawk a woman? Why they spared his life? |

i just got back from seeing it. I LOVED IT!!!. Of course it isnt the best movie ever but it was what it was a very Fun and enjoyable Film. Honestly the most fun ive had in the theater in this year. I actually liked Cobra Commander and have warmed up to his look i liked the Classic Cobra Commander voice that The Doctor makes when he temporarily removes his mask that was a sweet homage. Snake Eyes being my favorite joe was awesome the changes to his backstory didnt bother me as i like the whole new takes on classic characters idea. Overall i liked it if i had to rate it itd be a solid 8/10

6) How in hell is a little bum kid a karate master already? When he tries to steal the food Snake Eyes is jumping around doing flips and kicks and he hasn’t had any training yet. 9) Did anyone else notice how Heavy Duty’s earring jumps from one ear to another when the underwater attack begins? |
