Excellent movie, saw it last night at midnight...
I was going into the movie with a lot of reservations... but in the end, it was a non-stop action thriller. My wife liked it too, so that's good. |

I still enjoyed the film, but not as much as I know I could have. I still hope for a sequel since I think they were getting where they need to be (now that the "origin" stuff is done). Last edited by chreff; 08-07-2009 at 06:54 PM.. |

It was actually obvious that it was cut as everyone else's nationality was shared. But quite a bit got cut late - like Zartan being a natural mimic and Destro's animosity with Duke. Even Larry Hamma seemed to get cut!

I think the talk or mention of “Next Generation Of Joe Fans” needs to be put on hold for a minute……haven’t we heard this over and over since some time in the 90s when things went bad for our beloved joe and things turned ugly with sgt. Savage, g.i.joe extreme, and then most recently sigma 6 were introduced? Those lines were aimed for the younger audience and obviously that didn’t work out.
For every time there’s a “reboot” in the joe line, there’s a follow up that brings us back to the 80s style joes. That’s been proven over and over. The movie reminded me of every mistake Hasbro has made to the line over the years, but with a “blockbuster” budget. I don’t think I need to get into many details as I want people to see it with their own eyes..someone mentioned here that the movie is just a bad movie..Joe movie or not, it’s just a weak action movie. Non-stop action, yes. And that is a fairly accurate description. It’s just a bad movie that looks super expensive and at times annoys you with the many possibilities of what could’ve been so bad ass, and what could’ve worked to make this one of the biggest movies ever! Besides the choice of some of the actors, the biggest problem I had with it, and as I mentioned before, why do you need to “reboot” such a magnificent back story when you could’ve taken it from the original comic? I think majority of people would’ve been super excited to see something let’s say based from the silent issue as the intro to later go into a major battle….then use the rest of the movie to kinda introduce characters and have flashbacks on how they joined the team and such. But I’m not here to create a debate, just giving my two cents as I’m sure that I speak for a great number of people that would’ve loved to see their beloved Joe given justice with a proper movie, a proper director and most important, a kick ass story. Again, I think that the excuse we are hearing from many people of this being the next generation G.I.JOE, they need to think again as I’m not talking here for nostalgic reasons. And in no way I’m saying it has to be like in the comics or the cartoon, but here’s the bottom line: hire someone who knows about G.I.JOE to direct a G.I.JOE movie |

OK, I saw it. I'm a life-long fan of Joe.
As a fan I hated the Duke/Anna/Rex/Ripcord relationship stuff...that stunk. The rest I can live with. That is as a fan-and much was great. What didn't work as a movie goer....Duke! He was pretty much awful and everyone else was great or passable as previously stated by dozens of people. The CGI was completely distracting. For a $175 million dollar picture the CGI is unforgiveable. The fact is I thought Wayans and Miller made the movie-even SE and SS only worked in context to fans (they were great though). The movie was better than TF 2 though..that was gawd awful. Can Hasbro/Paramount please do a movie aimed at kids that doesn't curse every 5 minutes??? Come on.
