it is what it is. A movie. I mean if this movie fails aliens aren't gonna come rape our grandmas, and if its a smashing success we aren't all gonna get free cars for life. HAHHA on a side note, my friend just called and said "Dude, G.I. Joe killed John Hughes!"

i really enjoyed the movie,it was non stop well paced and had great action scenes. i am going to go and see it again this afternoon. our continuity from childhood was wrapped up with resolute. wayans was really great not as campy as i thought he would be,and i loved the commanders voice and look he looked really awesome on screen, even sommers said in a interview that he will get his mirrored mask from childhood eventually and that this was just the start of cobra. i loved the look of the vipers on screen as well the commandos were awesome in their scenes and the neo vipers and elite vipers, and eels they looked great on screen as well. i hope we can eventually buy some lifesize viper helmets like they made for the stormtroopers ect. ray park was awesome, but stormshadow was my favorite he was very cool and looked great. scarlett was amazing she was very beautiful, i dont think they could have picked a better person to play her. i really liked the great suprise at the ending as well, i hope we get a new in scale playset/toy of it. give it a go if you are on the fence it is a really fun movie, way way better than transformers2, i will say it is the third best movie i have watched this summer with startrek and terminator salvation being the top two.

Saw the film last night myself, honestly I thought it was fantastic.
I mean sure people can have their complaints about it, but what I liked most about it was a film for a broad audience, something I think is a little lacking at times with a lot of theatrical releases. Sure it had a simple plot and the characters were somewhat over the top, but that's what it felt like for me growing up watching ARAH. Sure the characters were modified from their animated counterparts, but it did a wonderful job of maintaining the spirit of GI Joe, which is more important to me then any other specific, cartoon or comic detail. This film had its nod to the fans like us, but also served as a good starting point for newcomers, and from the looks of it will set-up an even better sequel featuring a real all-out Cobra. Yo Joe!

Hey guys. I have a 5.75 year old who loves GI Joe. I want to see the movie, and I'd like to take him, but I was wondering what people thought in terms of the content.
Obviously it's PG-13, but how bad is it? Language I'm not worried about. I'm more worried about realistic violence. A-Team violence is OK, but I've read about "knives in eyes", and that's not kosher. We obviously all have different opinions about what our kids can see. I generally screen movies first, and probably will do that in this case. Appreciate your thoughts here... |

Overall, it wasn't too violent. But there are a few scenes of knives/arrows/chinese stars to the face/eyes, one sword through the chest and a body eaten by nano-mites.

There's no sex, or nudity. There are some kissing scenes, but it's not that graphic.
The violence is pretty tame. It's like Episode I where there was lots of killing but almost no blood the movie earns its rating through language. Lots of sh*t b*tch b*stard and a$$hole. depending on how much you want to expand your childs vocabulary is your call on taking him to the movie. |

I like how SS busted Hawk up... Also, I really like how Zartan was a straight up murderer. He went into deep cover in this one…
