I am really disappointed that Quaid did not do good as as Hawk. He looke really good for the part and was one of the things Iw as holding out hope for same thign for Channing Tattum. Oh well I figured people would say they were not thier parts and I reluctantly figured that would be the end result.
Channing Tatum, on the other hand, was a cardboard box trying to be an actor. |

Loved the movie, but again i am not a huge GI JOE fan. I did play with some of the action figures when i was a kid and watched some of the cartoons too,(which by the way are very bad now.)
What i am reading here is that most people really enjoyed the movie (just look at the percentages above) but maybe for the FANBOYS, who still think that the cartoons ROCK, they feel that the movie and characters were nothing like the cartoons or comics so that is why they hate it. I say to them this is the 21st century and it's been 25 years since the cartoon and longer if you count the orginal toy line. Things have to be revamped and change to go with the times. I was really looking forward to see Ray Park playing snake eyes since i met him at the Calgary Entertainment expo and snake eyes didn't disapoint he was fantastic and he didn't die |

He was a jack of all trades and master of none. I don't blame Wayans for anything. He was like a fat chick with a great personality in a way too small prom dress. He was doing the best he could with what little quality he was stuffed into. |

No idea if this has been mentioned or not but am I the only one who thought that CC's voice took a HUGE nosedive for the worst once he wore the mask?
I thought that Levitt's voice for CC as the "doctor" was great, but went to shit and even reminded me of Destro from the toon once the mask came into play. |

I saw it this weekend. It's a good enough movie. Not a great movie. Not a blech movie either. What is good about it is that it kinda made me feel like a kid again. It's like watching all them toys coming to life and moving in ways that I could only dream of.
And mercifully, the sequence with the Delta 6 (Why they didn't call it Sigma 6 instead is beyond me) accelerator suits is limited and short, and not the point of the movie. I'd see it again. |

Of course, in my mind, really there is no real G.I. Joe movie. There's the comics, and the toys. Both the 1987 and 2009 movies suck hard, and I like to pretend they don't exist. I'm really not too mad about it, because its not like they're going back and burning every issue of the old comic series. Or the bitchin' IDW one. Although its because I'm a massive fanboy and a purist, I'm pretty much unable to enjoy this movie. If I wasn't a huge fan, I'd probably like it okay, or at least be simply indifferent. It's G.I. Joe in name only. I feel the same way about the Michael Bay Transformers movies. It's sad when Transformers: Animated, a cartoon aimed at kids, is way better written, truer to the source material and more intelligent that the movies than are supposed to be for adults. Not a rabid collector/hater here. ROC lived up to what it was supposed to be......an action packed summer movie. Reading threads on reviews here, I went into it expecting the worst.
Being a fan, i was hoping they would take a more serious approach like Resolute, but Sommers seemed to blend over the top action/cgi , fantasy with humor in a way that could please us aging joe's and reach out to a whole new younger audience. Loved Destro, Zartan, Storm Shadow, even Cobra Commander! It was like being a kid again! Can't wait for the sequel. Hopefully they'll be able to incorporate/develop more of those great characters from the joe and cobra universe - Maj.Bluud, Tomax Xamont, FireFly. Really looking forward to where the push the Zartan look and character. 8 out of 10 Oh yeah, who was Brendan Frasier supposed to be? |
