-I heard a rumor that the movie was actually filmed using nanomites.
-I just picked up a pack of G.I.Joe RoC nanomites at Wal-Mart tonight. I plan on stir-frying them up, I'll let you know how they taste. Some argue that I can not accept change and that I am indeed stuck in the 1980's. ...Change? I've got it! Let's give the Persian army some new weapons, that they don't fully understand. Weapons that will grow into monsters when hit by magnified sunlight, turning them into huge monsters that try to destroy New York. Then G.I.Joe comes in and saves the day, but when they think they have killed the big monsters that are attacking New York, they turn into Cobra Commander and Destro. Storm Shadow was once of course a leader of an alien race from Hiptune who vows vengeance on farm life and things shaped like triangles. Did I mention all the Joes are Brazilian females and wear tight skimpy primary colored outfits. They also have a daring plot furthering secrete too, they can transform into their power animals when they say catchphrases relating to their hair color/nationality/ and their preassigned animals. They also fight using a card game (promotional tie-in). Slap the "G.I.Joe" title on this and call it the G.I.Joe movie. after all, it's about change! It's about evolution! |

Agreed.
Professor Jaco also fails to do his research on the other LIE eminating out of Hasbro: "G.I. Joe has just gone into filming this past week, with a great cast and a tremendous story all based on the comics and the animation. I think fans, and fans to come, will really love what we're doing." - Brian Goldner 'G.I. Joe' Executive Producer Reveals Details About The Flick ... And The Action Figures! - Movie News Story | MTV Movie News So the film's story was "all based on the comics and the animation." What a LIE. Hama and Goldner were telling lies to the public in order to fool them into paying to see "GI Joe: POS." It's funny everybody who's seen it say it's just like the cartoon. Meanwhile, the people involved with the development of the movie say they were influenced by the comics.Hell Sommers is quoted saying he watched the cartoon for a few minutes and knew right away that it was over the top. The producer Lorenzo DiBonaventura kept saying it was based on the comics. The CEO of Hasbro said the same thing, just look at my sig. |

All this bitching, yet all of you rushed to see it opening weekend.
You all complained about this stuff the past year, yet you run to the theaters to see it and then get mad at it??? Thanks for spending your money though, and ensuring i will get a sequel.

If this movie had been entitled "Action Force: Generic Soldiers," it would have been the kind of movie that went straight to DVD. It would be the equivalent of "Action Jackson" or the like from the 80's; if you see it's on while flipping through channels on the weekend, you might watch a few minutes of it, but you're probably not going to stick around for the whole thing.
The movie was OK, but I just can't accept it as G.I. Joe. I don't even understand who this movie was actually marketed to. It was too violent for kids, in my opinion. And it altered so much of the G.I. Joe story lines from the 80's that I believe a lot of the fans from that era will be disappointed. I know I was. |

Yeah I saw it just now and like the nano Destro mask, something that makes sense, will see the moving lips in the cartoon in a different light, now...
hahahaha... Reminiscent of the UK Action Force comic when Baron Ironblood became that continuity's Cobra Commander a little... As for the Baroness and Covergirl, it's a shame that they had to waste two characters like that... Covergirl, is killed, it seems, purely for being female, if anyone should have died, it should have been Ripcord, and as for Baroness, that was just stupid, lazy writing!

Wow, lot of differing opinions on this. I grew up with the toys and original cartoon and was very skeptical at first when I started to hear what the movie was going to be like, most noticably the casting of Ripcord who has been my favorite character since I was 5. I have to say though, I loved the movie (and my wife did too). My only qualms were too many flashbacks, which IMO is a very weak story-telling devise. I liked Ripcord and it was great to see my favorite character get tons of screentime. I don't think Marlon was over the top and he ended up being pretty important. Besides, in the cartoon Rip was a bit of a practical joker anyway (Money to Burn). I thought it was a relaly fun ride and can't wait to see it again. I've been waiting 25 years for a G.I.Joe movie and I've finally got it. It may not have been done the way I would have done it but when you have to condence 25 years of material into a 2 hour movie and make it udnerstandable and fun for a wide audience there has to be some give and take.
