I loved this movie. I just view it as another take on G.I.Joe. It was nonstop action and I loved the Snake-eyes/Storm Shadow fight scenes. CC and Destro were awesome. I think CC's voice was perfect.

I just watched it 2 hours ago in a 1/4 th full theatre. It's as good as I expected a summer action flick by Sommers to be.
To me it was as enjoyable as TF2 as movie geared to kids. It had some good moments and I liked the desert ambush most of all. But somehow the pacing was too quick for my taste which reminded me of a Bruckheimer Bay movie.
Duke was kinda dull. Ripcord wasnt too bad and I had to chuckle with the audience on the hair and kung fu grip comment by Wayans. Snake Eyes was cool. though I wonder what he was doing hanging underneath the Steel Crusher so long in the PP. Storm Shadow and Zartan were pure badass. Maybe with the exception of a weeping Storm Shadow. The Vipers were badass killers! Destro was cool too till the bad mask in the end. I liked Baroness till she "turned". =(
Overall it was enjoyable but I probably wont watch it a 2nd time.

Okay, it had some good moments, but overall, it was pretty bad. The action scenes were good, but some of the effects were blah. I did like the portrayal of some of the characters, but the ending was a complete let down and ruined the movie as a whole (We are Cobra... and now we are in jail, WTF??!!). Not just that, but some of the characters really got gyped of screen time, such as Covergirl. Why did she even need to be in it? I did like some of the dialog though, especially with Ripcord when he was in the Accelerator Suit (getting hit by a car was hysterical), and Christopher was excellent as Destro, but other than the names and a few homages to the original comics, the movie was just another generic army vs terrorist movie instead of a GI Joe movie. Oh, I did like how Cobra Commander was a genius though, but being Baroness' brother was stupid.
And for those of you comparing it with Transformers, well, Revenge of the Fallen was a fantastic movie that took everything great about the first one and upped it a hundred times. This was just another face in the flooded crowd.
Evil will always triumph because good is dumb.

That "actress" playing covergirl needed a lot less screen time. That was cinamax quality acting.
Summers really wanted to make a Bond movie which is why is was so generic.

This movie was better than I expected it to be, but that still doesn't make it a very good movie. Everyone that has mentioned that this movie is basically a two hour episode of the cartoon is exactly right. The reasons this film exceeded my expectations was basically because it was a two hour episode of the cartoon. I would have much preferred a movie with some depth to the characters, but I knew from everything I've read that it wasn't going to be and this movie makes no apologies for it. It is a straight out action flick, which is fine in my opinion. If we weren't going to get a dramatic adaptation of the story, then I'm glad they didn't try to shove half-assed attempts at in to the movie. However, this movie suffers terribly from this modern movie franchise-in-mind disease that so many films are infected with; that Star Wars Episode 1 mentality. Film-makers are constantly relying on the over all story arc to be played out over 3 or 4 movies, and this really just ends up resulting in 3 or 4 individual films that require a concerted effort to watch. Another issue I have was the muddled special effects. Sometimes they were really good and other times they were painful to watch. I was never really concerned about the accelerator suits, but after seeing the film I have a real problem with them. I don't care that they exist in the film, I care that they were so poorly executed by the CGI team. They looked flat out ridiculous. There were better efforts made in the video game chase scene in The Beach. But, on the other hand, there were some kick ass efforts made in the ships and battle scenes.
Duke - Ehh, he was okay. Much like the SW reference from before, this movie feels the need to cram unnecessary relationships down our throats.
Scarlett - I liked her, until she started to speak. Not only did little of what she said make sense in regards to why she held those ideas, but she contradicted herself constantly.
Ripcord - I never gave JarJar Binks a break just because he was the shrugged shoulders, what-can-you-do?, comic relief, and I'm not going to give Ripcord a break. Don't get me wrong, he's not exactly like JarJar, but he becomes trying at times. Bottom line though, he wasn't out of place and he was much easier to swallow than I thought he'd be. Anyone that says he single-handedly ruined this film is simply wrong. Granted, his humor (and most of that in the film) was written to cater to the lowest common denominator -the same kind of people who find the wacky antics of the Duggar family entertaining- but when he wasn't being the comic relief, he was perfectly fine.
Hawk - Boring. Not only that, but the man is the fastest healing human being I've ever seen. He goes from sliced up and unconscious in a hospital bed - to needing a wheel chair and cane - to just using a cane - to walking around the command room shouting and doing the 80's fist thrust when the battle is won, in the course of what, a day?
Destro - He was pretty good. There wasn't much of a "noble villain" feel to him, which really would have been anyone's motivation to avenge the wrongs done on his family all those years before, but he was alright. His story didn't become totally silly until the end when Cobra Commander handed him his ass. The entire opening flashback sequence was not needed and I feel would have been better delieverd as a prequel comic.
The Baroness - She was great! Miller did a perfectly wonderful job and the director really got her character down. HOWEVER, she lost all appeal for me when she started having those break through flashbacks and it dawned on me that she was being controlled by nanites. Why? Why force the whole Cobra Commander's sister, Duke's ex angle down our throats if she's really a good guy who switches sides at the last minute? The Baroness is just a flat out bitch who is interested in herself and this is how she was played right up until the end.
Cobra Commander - I thought JGL did a perfectly fine job. The voice was great and his mannerisms were pretty much on target. I thought the mask he wore as the Doctor was cheap and looked lousy, but had no real complaints about the way he looked after he revealed that he was Cobra Commander. I thought the way he was dressed pretty much kicked ass and was just crying out for the silver faceplate and black helmet CC wears in the 2nd Cobra 5-pack. The down side was that silly voice he had after putting on the 2nd mask. The voice he used for the majority of the film was much better. I might be wrong, but I thought there was no reason given for the mask switch was because he was revealing himself as Cobra Commander. When Destro was asked if he was the one with all the power that the world would turn to, he said no. I simply assumed this was because he was talking about Cobra Commander and at the end of the film, the Doctor revealed himself to be CC to Destro. But, I might be looking a little to far beyond what happened on the screen.
Storm Shadow - Pretty much perfect in my opinion. The really great thing that happened was a kid in the theater started absolutely bawling his eyes out when he got "killed". This kid really lost his shit. He must have been about 6 or 7. I couldn't see him, but the whole theater erupted in laughter when he actually shouted "OH STORM SHADOW BWAHHHHHHHHHH!" I have to admit, I've never seen anything like that before.
Snake-Eyes - I'm sorry, but the mouth really didn't do it for me. Every time he was on the screen, I just laughed to myself over that mouth. It's really just silly looking and pointless. I can't even begin to imagine what they were thinking when someone said "Wouldn't he look better with a set of rubber lips!?" and everyone agreed.
Zartan - I thought he was great. If Zartan had popped up on screen with a dish towel on his head and eye tattoos, I would have laughed my ass off. The actor did well and the character was adapted very well for the movie.
Those are really, in my opinion, the only characters worth discussing. Everyone else was pretty much window dressing
Basically, I was pleasantly surprised by the movie. It sounds like I'm down on it, but it wasn't nearly as bad as I feared it would be. I went in expecting a 2 out of 5 and walked out thinking it was a 3 out of 5, most especially since it didn't try to be anything it wasn't. I don't know how great a review is when you say "I expected crap and I'm surprised I didn't get crap", but it's a movie that I might even buy when it comes out. But, that is also dependant on a sequel. No sequel; I'm not going to buy it. If there will be one, then I'll add it to my collection.

I wish they had more characters in the movie. I was looking forward to seen Shipwreck or any of the aquatic joes in the under water battle scenes. I really didn't like the way Zartan was done or destro.
