Someone commented on how "stormtrooper" the Vipers sounded.
There's a reason for that. In a full face helmet, you'd need a radio mike to communicate and be heard clearly outside of the helmet. Any talking inside would be muffled. The ARAH Vipers would have had the same deal.

In the end I can appreciate the shuffling of Joe facts. However, one thing that griped me was how the CGI wasn't really accurate.
The scene in the desert as the Joe plane land in the orifice ports. The sand dunes look completely fake and another gleaming example is the FLAGG scene. It looked totally fake. I am a realy stickler on CGI stuff because if it looks like a SciFi Channel job I must call them on it because this was a multi million dollar production. It should never look fake. I sat till the end of the film hoping for an easter egg (no easter egg :-( ) and you would not believe how many people worked the CGI part of it. The next time around, they need to do a far better job. In tranformers, they mix live filmed areas and then they tack in CGI. I can't figure out why they could not have filmed a real aircraft carrier at see. Michael Bay with Transformers did. I could go on and on but I risk annoying any person who disagrees with me. Bottom line, with 1990's grade CGI, it has no place in a 2009 big budget film. Remember twister? It looked alot like that quality.

after reading all the critics and there reasons for not liking it, which is fine im not try to convince anyone to like something they don't, but holy frack man, don't you think micromanaging every fault with a movie is fair, i watch a movie to be entertained and to have fun, i don't think some watch a movie for that type of reason, i think they just want to watch something to complain about, and there no way they would be happy unless they wrote, directed and shot the movies themselves, i mean holy frack, talk about anal. relax have a beer or something and watch with out be so dang critical, do you hold every movie to the same stranded? i doubt it. and yea i love marvel, sunbow better, but there history, this now. and and i seen a hell of lot worse than this, plus my son loved it so , good enough for me, because it did one thing it should of for me, had fun with my son, who will remember some things, like snake eyes vs storm shadow, but he not going to remember every flaw, and besides if you love something you wont focus on the bad things. you remember the fun you had. details be dammed! sorry thats my rant.

my take
It was a dissapointment. I'd kinda gotten my hopes up with Destro and the other early reviews. However, as a movie designed to sell toys, it works.

Quick question, I was going to take my 6 year old son with me to see this movie, I of course loved joe as a kid and had all the vintage toys as a kid and lived the cartoon, but the question is if this movie is too much for a 6 year old child due to violence, language, etc. etc. Any advice is appreciated, I am not super anal about what he watches, just to prove that, his favorite show is spongebob. Thanks
addendum - also if it is appropriate, will he enjoy it? Thanks I would say it is, other than a few "shits" the violence is kinda just implied, Scarllet aims at a guy in the head she shoots and the camera changes and show is body roll away. Duke stabs a viper in the eye that has a huge helmet so you dont see it. Scarllet does the same but helmet covers it. HD put a nade in a guys neck armor, it blows but he just falls no decap. most violent thing I remember was CG getting stabbed through the stomach, there was no blood and her datapad covered it up. |

I must be pretty dang critical about the film because I love G.I.Joe so much. Been waiting for a live action Joe film since 1985 or something like that. I am a movie aficionado to begin with but for G.I.Joe, they have a high hill to hoe. Again, just to sell toys, you betcha. But the film needs to have brains and quality too if I am going to truly enjoy it.

I think the Cobra Eels mask works better for Snake Eyes than the sculpted mouth thing they used. Snake Eyes would have been awesome with the Eels helmet.
I can't warm up to the mouth. I don't understand what they were going for. His outfit has sculpted muscles, veins, nose & mouth. It didn't look like an outfit, instead it looked like his skin is supposed to be all black. It was very distracting. I just don't understand it at all. Every time I see him I'm like "WTF were they going for here?" Just got back from the movie for the second time, and I'm still feeling this film could have better if it would have been made and written by fan boys! I liked it for what it was- but truly not the best attempt at a GIJOE film- IMOP. |

Funny! I was thinking the most violent thing was those funny ninja stars. How fast and deadly those little pieces of metal are and how everyone died instantaneously without ever saying SHIT or OUCH!!!! "Help! I can't move!!!" "Thank you wonder man!"

My older brother who never played the toys or watched the cartoon- but read the comic found the mouth to be distracting. He told me that my V1 Snake Eyes costume was so much better then Sommers version. We can only hope they take more of Snake Eyes Commando version in the next film.

I for one an writing a letter to Goldner as Hasblo. I will have my opinions in writing and on the record. Whose bloody with me?!!!

I for one loved it; I really like how they showed Destro's ancestor and who they picked for mindbender and the all around take on the Joe’s. To hell with people’s expectations of an 80's cartoon remake or staying true to the comics.....its 2009 folks and a revamp is needed. If it would had stuck to the toons or comics it would have been a comedy and not an action film. This movie was made to appeal to the masses and that’s what it's doing and doing very well I might add. I never saw so many kids surround the Joe’s display at the stores like I’ve seen in the last two days, the kids are all over them toys an very excited bout them, and not just the boys but saw two girls askin their parents for a scarlet fig and arguing who was gonna get her. If you don't like what I just wrote well get over it and stop living in the past cause these are not your daddy's Joe’s these Joe’s are intended for the future new recruits of Joe fans....loved it, my wife who's been tolerating my fandom cause she loves me loved it. if anyone would say it was stupid it would have been a none fan like her but after the movie she was like I can see why you like these so much let's go Joe huntin and find that basterd the doctor. We went all over the place alas no doctor but it was really nice to see her going threw the pegs excited about finding him, let's just say I got hooked up with some Joes and now she owns a Joe cause she picked up the reactive suit scarlet for herself to place at her desk at work. Anyways all I’m tryin to say is this movie was a great action movie that I enjoyed very much and I know first hand that it's going to make allot more fans out of people who normally would not be fans......nuff said!
