My brother just got back from that screening. He said the actors suprisingly pulled it off. He also said the story was generic. He told me too see it early if I don't want to be distracted by kids and teens talking. I had a couple outbursts on some teens when I was with him last week. All around he said its ok.

The movie will do great because of the kids and the orginal fans, aka 'us'.
YES the kids are what are buying the product and lots of it. I sell it and should know. I have more children from 6-12 years buy this stuff than the original fans. Stop with the rape and 'oh my childhoiod dreams' garbage of the movie ruining. Get over it. It's a movie for frack's sake. Don't take it so personaly. Kids will love it, parents will buy it for them and Hasbro will keep it going as long as it makes money. Looking forward to seeing it! Phalsis, |

I look at it this way. Marvel comics gave Hollywood a lot of its characters to develop into films in the past and most of the films were really bad. Now that Marvel has more say in how their characters appear in films the results are better. I think this is a lesson Hasbro has to learn.

I am probably going to go see this on Friday morning. I have very low expectations for it, although Destro's review kind of has me a little bit more optimistic than I had been in the past. Once I see it for myself I will form an opinion. What I think you might see on here a lot is honest, but negative reviews of the movies and people jumping all over those who did not like it. I admit that I really didn't care for Transformers and the sequel was just plain horrible. Everybody's tastes are different in life, whether it's movies, food, music, sports or anything. We all need to keep this in mind.

So who knows what the future holds. Marvel Studios is trying to reacquire all their movie properties & consolidate them under one production house which will allow for the cross character story arcs like IM/Hulk/Thor/Avengers…

First off, thank you Destro for the review. I look forward to seeing the film on Friday and I'm excited for the chance to be entertained... good or bad, I just can't wait.

You were doing OK until you decided to finish off your review with absolute drivel. Honestly...how long did you have that saved on your hard drive in advance? You didn't see the movie with an open mind...you saw it with your mind made up well in advance. Seriously...tired "rape" cliches, "Sheep" name-calling, and "If you see this you have no standards!" attacks. You just couldn't offer an objective review to save your life, could you?
It's fine to have a negative opinion of what you saw. It's fine to state that opinion. Then turning around and trying to "bait" people is about as low-class as it gets. PS: "Your" G.I. Joe, might not be "our" G.I. Joe. You sure as hell don't speak for everyone here. Quote:

I was in TRU the other day buying some more ROC figures and this little boy was begging his mom for some Joe figures. She told him that she wasn't buying any of those and told him she was buying him some Power Ranger thing. It was all I could do to keep from saying something rude to her. I mean Power Rangers?!?!? WTF!?!?! When will those things fucking die away already?

Thanks,it's nice to know we were lied to by Hasbro CEO and producer Brian Goldner in an interview:
But what about the movie's spirit? Should fans expect to see a live-action version of the cartoon, an update on the Marvel comics, or something else entirely? According to Goldner, Sommers and crew want to take filmgoers back a couple of decades: "Steve Sommers is very different. But he's perfect, because if you think about his movies like 'The Mummy,' it's the perfect action/adventure movie. If you think about what we're trying to do for G.I. Joe, really bringing back that '80s G.I. Joe from the Marvel comics -- those first 155 issues are really our focus. If you think about that, you'll understand what we're trying to get at with all those characters and all the intricate relationships. I don't think you'd see this movie as wacky. I think you're going to see this movie as being inspirational for younger kids and totally in the sweet spot for the guys who grew up on G.I. Joe." Or maybe his ideas for the movie were hijacked by the other idiot producer who knows nothing about the ARAH lore, Lorenzo DIBonaventura. |
