I have a lot off time off at work so I just took the whole day off to see the film (and get new tires on the car & stuff). I hate going after 5:00 pm anymore (especially on a Friday). Teenagers have become the most selfish and disrespectful a-holes. They all think they are comedians or giving the DVD commentary. Girls are the worst now too! Hooting and crap every time a guy has a shirt off. |

one thing ive got to say is that everybody including myself are hoping this rendition of cobra commander is just an early version and that he will change in the sequel to the well know cloth mask or battle helmet. But from interviews i have read the reason they didnt use the cloth was because it was so close to a klu klux clan mask. So that doest bode well for a change in the sequel unless they really change there way of thinking or listen to to what im sure is an abundance of critisim from the fans and give us what we want the real cc. Tho why have this attidude its a known fact this is who the cobra commander is so if you have a directer/producer or who ever who feels like this then why take on the role of making this movie.
Also a bit on the commanders character after reading the prequel novel what really are is motives i mean the comic version you have a guy pretty much gone mad from his misfortune with the government etc and has turned in to a hitler esq personna thus giving him a dangerous and real threat to the world. The movie commander doest really to me seem like he has any real threat unless they work on this in the sequel. ps also gung ho had a massive role in the prequel as it was effectivly him that supposedly killed rex , affecting the lifes of three major people in the movie rex duke and baroness yet hes no were to be found. i hope hes in the sequel and would make since that it comes out he was responsible for the air strike causing friction possibly giving a real reason to turn the baroness to evil again and causing friction between duke and gung ho (hey i know its got nothing to do with orignal joe story line but not a lot of the movie does just thing it would make some sense or why have gung ho do such a thing in the prequel) One final thing the baroness charter is only bad because of sum control that was put over her and she seems tro break that control in the first movie hence no longer making her evil. has any one got an idea were they will go from here with her charter ? |

I agree with you there. I always get the dumbest friggin' people behind me... Teenagers have become the most selfish and disrespectful a-holes. They all think they are comedians or giving the DVD commentary. Girls are the worst now too! Hooting and crap every time a guy has a shirt off.

I think most of the ground has been covered but to throw my vote in: Did not care for it, at all.

After dreading the idea of Malon Wayans as Ripcord, the fact that I thought the Sigma 6 suits looked retarded, and JGL not being able to pull off being the Commander, I am happy to say that I was wrong on all counts. Wayans was funny when he needed to be, not just to be funny, the accelerator suit scene was pretty intense and fun to watch, and JGL reminded me of the Resolute Commander in his ruthlessness and had just enough of the classic Commander to his voice and mannerisims that I was impressed by that casting choice. Brendan Frasier as Sgt. Stone, I can't say either way wether I liked it or not due to his minimal screen time and what little I know about the Sgt. Stone character. And we all know that Baroness will be just as evil in the sequal.

For me that was honestly the problem. The immersion into the story where your "heart starts pounding". I didn't get that feeling for almost the entire movie until the last big battle scenes which I thought were really well done. I found the beginning of the movie was really weak, but it gradually got better and better towards the paris pursuit scene and the last big battles. Summers should not have allowed Sienne Miller to look like that. Her costume and especially hair color made her look B rated. Same thing with the first action scene where duke and rip get ambushed. Somehow the CG seems very rushed and unpolished. The whole scene seemed underwhleming and again I got the B movie feeling and that worried me because I thought the whole movie was going to be bad CG and amateur looking costumes and makeup. Where I was surprised was that Waynes brought a lot to the movie as comic relief and that help a lot. I agree with others though, he should of just been stalker or someone else, but comic characters chaning race when turned into movie renditions is nothing new so its not such a big deal for me. I also really liked the PITT scene, thought that was well done.
