D.E.F. vs The Headhunters. For the sake of my story Bullet Proof will nolonger be a black man, but a hispanic woman, and Headman (Shia Labeouf) and Bullet Proof (Rosie Perez) will be ex-lovers / gulf war vets. After the gulf war Headman becomes a gangsta rap mogel who is also an international drug kingpin, and soon becomes the target of GI Joe after a Falcon-like character re-named Duke (Rob Schneider) for the sake of marketing, becomes hooked on drugs sold by the Headman. Cobra Commander will be portayed as a rival rapper who is jealous of the Headman's success, and transforms the Bloods and the Crips into one organization known as Cobra. In the end GI Joe lead by Bullet Proof will win out, destroying the Headman in an epic battle in space.

I think I'd be fine with the direction the movie is generally taking, with a few changes...
First off, I have no problem with Duke being a major, BUT I'd want him to be a grizzled First Sergeant when he joined the team. Hawk would take him under his wing, the way the movie seems to be suggesting, and having him join the team as his hand-picked second-in-command. Along with Snake Eyes (still played by Ray Park), Breaker (probably different origin/actor) and Scarlett (same actress, but different colours), you'd have the original members - Zap, Grunt, etc... and Marlon Wayans could even play Stalker, no problem with that. The Heavy Duty guy could already be on the team, that'd be fine - but he'd be called Roadblock. I think I'd have him played by a famous rapper, like .50 Cent or something, so you still have that rhyming angle. I sort of like the international angle the film's taking, being Canadian and all, so along with Duke you could have new guys joining like Big Ben, Backstop (!), Red Star, Lt. Stone (they could make characters like him come from somewhere else) etc... and maybe the old guys wouldn't like this so much, create tension, etc. Kind of a nod to the fans who don't like it either! ;) As far as I can tell by the movie (and keep in mind I've stayed relatively spoiler-free), the rest of the movie would be more or less the same, except the Baroness would have an accent (and no sub-plot connection to Duke), and Cobra Commander would look more like he did in the old days... think Sideshow designs for these guys.

I guess some people dont understand that not evryone grew up watching GIJOE and Gijoe has been off screen for 20 plus years. How in the world are they supposed to get new fans and in the process have those fans connect with the history if they have nothing themselves to start with.

Knowing what I have read in the novelization and prequel, writing this vast revision was not necessary and is not any better than what was previously written.
You are talking about a comic series that surpassed 150 issues in the Marvel run alone. There was so much story to play with! Larry Hama is even used as a Story Consultant for the film. What consulting did Hama do considering all the mix ups anyway? I suspect the story outline was approved and possibly designed by the Hasbro execs; Goldner to be specific. They do not appreciate the vintage ARAH as we do. Sorry to say it but it is too late now!!! |

Why do you think the Crimson Guard(or any Viper or Trooper) would not translate well but the Neo-Vipers from the movie do? What makes them translate well? |

i would like to have seen a story based on the principles of cobra reborn were cobra commander has been through all dramatics and stress of a failing buisness man (u know the story ), and simply snapping becoming a dark and deranged character. keeping the hood of course.
In the first movie he could gather a couple of mercanaries ie major bludd, who commited crimes against the geneva convention making him a known outlaw, storm shadow and firefly, ninja and demolition experts respectavly, Zartan who can imperssonate through make make up etc (basically a realistic way of doing his thing) also make him very unstable as in not knowning his real self kinna like that ddp issue were he searched for the box of memories from his child hood. finally destro and baroness supply the weapons and cash to fund a terrist cell called cobra. Obviously the in the first movie they will be on heard of and consist of only the above core group. Cobra could do something drastic like destroy western cities by nuking a select few after optaining weapons and threating the world. obviously the joes ( a serious group kina like the marines in aliens) could try to stop them but failing leading in to the sequel were cobra grows in numbers and stature due to the events they conjure on the world in the first movie. i know a pretty dark story and would never happen as the movie was made to capitalise on the younger generation ie kids and i know also very cobra orientated but reality makes good viewing and we dont live in a world were the good guys win by using sigma 6 suites |

I remember the cartoons has some episodes wherein the lady fighters were in bikinis and sleepwear so I would do one beach battle so we can see the Joe ladies and Baroness fighting in bikinis. There's no place to hide the guns if you are wearing a bikini so maybe they hide their weapons in beach bags.
I will also have one bedroom battle scene for the Joe ladies. We will have beach figures and also attack on the Pit bedroom figures. |

Wow this is a great question...but let me start with this....having not yet seen the movie I'm still willing to see how well it does or does not work on its own merits.
That being said ass that I am, I'd be pretty close to the ARAH continuity. With a touch of todays modern military action...with everything that is said about how bad Transformers and ROTF has been, which it really wasn't all THAT bad, both films while differant and having some plot logic holes were decent enough gave some well done military action scenes. I'd like my G.I. Joe to be similar to that sort of action, soldiers advancing, yelling orders under heavy fire. As for a story, well crazy as it sounds any sort of Cobra world domination plot would be enough material to propel a story, and provide action enough. As for characters, well I think most of the well known Joes and Cobra would HAVE to be featured, personally for the Joes.... Duke Scarlett Snake Eyes Shipwreck Roadblock Wildbill Are all Iconic characters, and while they'd likely be the main Joes...I would bust my ass to see that damn near every Joe character I could pack in at least saw SOME screen time, from Clutch driving Duke to the PITT, to Dart training with Spirit, to Ace inspecting a plane. Hell I'd even include Ice Cream Soldier as a bullet stopper. As for Cobra... CC Destro Baroness Stormshadow Dr. Mindbender Tomax and Xamot Firefly Zartan Again you see me try and pack in as many secondary characters as possible. |
