I don't know why every review thus far brings up Transformers 2 ... makes me kind of suspicious of the reviews.
BTW, Transformers 2 is far from terrible. I find it utterly hilarious there are people who enjoyed the first movie, and despised the sequel. As if they were expecting some shakespearean upgrade to the original movie. They're virtually the same entity, Transformers (2007) / Transformers 2. The movies are virtually identitcal, the latter just ramping up what it already did well (and not so well in some cases) so it's literally Transformers (2007) on steroids. Was there glaring plot holes in Transformers 2? Yes. Was it too long, and does it lag in areas? Yes. Is some of the "humor" over the top and extremely over done? Absolutely. With all that said, story wise its actually superior to the original. The story of the original Transformers, the scored brother of the original 13 who looked to take over the energy source of this world aka the Fallen aka metaphor for the devil, was very interesting. There is actual character growth in Transformers 2, and the action is even better from the first. The first one was restricted with a smaller budget and a confusion on what to and what not to show in terms of action. The action set pieces in Transformers 2 are incredible. That Prime v.s. Megs / Starscream fight was UNBELIEVABLE. And Prime was utterly bad ass in the sequel. In the first he was a pure leader. In Revenge of the Fallen? Cinematic bad ass. "I want your face!!!" and then he cuts the villains head off? Uhhh yeah BAD ASS. And I don't care what anyone says, the "Negro"bots in Transformers 2 were super hilarious. And anyone who actually derives a racial discrimination from those parts has an agenda themselves. Because I didn't even look at it through that racial scope when watching them, and everyone in the audience laughed at all their scenes. Not to mention Jazz in the first one talked with "hip hop slang" (I don't view it as being exclusively African American) and no one made a peep about that ... and its even explained why some of the T-Formers talk in modern lingo in the original movie. Michael Bay delivered on a follow up to an extremely successful movie. Put what he did right on steroids and delivered a funny and exhilerating dumb popcorn flick. It's a crappy movie when you actually look at the fine details, but on the surface level Bay knows what material he is doing and knows what kind of film maker he is and always has been. He actually deliveres extreme precision and quality in the things that he's talented at. So the hate for T-Formers 2 is horrendously misplaced. Just look how bias and stupid people sound who criticize the 2nd film, but loved the first. Like they graded the first movie on the merits of being a dumb fun blockbuster built on a toy franchise, then for the follow up grade the sequel on actual good cinematic qualities. It's ridiculous. Honestly, I expect GI Joe: ROC to be a poor man's Transformers (2007). It doesn't have the surface level quality and pizzaz of a Michael Bay summer action flick, but it will probably deliver as a fun movie. If thats what you go in expecting. If you go in thinking its going to be an intelligent, well made, perfectly acted, INSTANT cinematic classic with the likes of The Dark Knight, Iron Man, Terminator 2, and crap like that you'll be sorely mistaken. |

haha I loved Mudflap an Skids.
I think the reason they keep bringing up Transformers is because both franchises are from Hasbro. |

Another review that doesn't state this is the worst use of film since Gili. There must be something to all of these 'ok' reviews. Probably not though since I'm sure they are all plants and Hasbro/Paramount employees.

After reading all these reviews, I practically know the whole movie's plot. But I'm a CG whore, so I'll watch it.

Hell even beyond popcorn entertainment those films could hold their own in several categories. You = epic failure. SMH @ the total lack of knowledge. And please, just stop talking already. I can tell you're one of those anti-establishment "rebel, rebel" I'm cool by being different, douche bags. So anything anyone finds of mass appeal whether it be fans, critics, mainstream, etc You'll find something to buck at the system in regards to it. BTW each film I mentioned was praised by LEGIT movie critics and are known classics, so ... let's keep it moving and get back to our regularly scheduled program of G.I. Joe talk. Thank You |
