With the official start date for filming just a few days away Hiss Tank.com is proud to present a Live Action G.I. Joe Movie Script Review.
The script, is an intricately, professionally written, movie caliber level piece of literature. Based on what we have heard from Di Bonaventura blurbs about the project, and offline rumblings I get here and there from various people that do have access to the movie, I'm voting that this is the real deal. Figure its worth posting up a review either way... we fans need something to talk about for the next year, right? So that being said, let's get to the goodies. ***Spoiler Warning Do Not Read The Content of This Review If You Do Not want To Be Spoiled*** To read the complete review click the Title Bar!

The script is 120 pages long. Movie scripts supposedly average a page a minute, so that puts this at a little under 2 hours, written. Editing and all that could push it longer or shorter. We've heard blurbs from El Mayimbe and interviews on the web on several key points by the above mentioned people. I will try to cover G.I. Joe fans' key points of interest here.
My first reaction to reading the G.I. Joe script is that its going to be a lot like Transformers The Movie only with more respect given to original continuity. The writers Stuart Beattie, Brian Koppelman and David Levien have done a great job Adapting the G.I. Joe Universe (Comics and Cartoons) to the big screen with this script. Yes some things have been moved around and changed but I think they really captured the most important parts of what makes G.I. Joe so special to us all, the characters. If I had to give this film a Title I would call it The Rise Of Cobra. The Paramount running Title of the film is G.I.Joe Dark Sky: First Strike. Most of the film is the telling of Destro's search for ultimate power, the discovery of G.I. Joe and how the Cobra Organization is formed. Lets not forget about the back story of Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow. Here are The Major Characters and Vehicles you can Expect to see in the film. Duke Heavy Duty General Hawk Scarlett Shipwreck Snake Eyes Breaker Ripcord Cover Girl Hard Master Destro Zartan Cobra Commander The Baroness (Black Form Fitting Body Armor) The Baroness (Crimson) Neo Vipers Vipers (Black Armor) Storm Shadow The Doctor (Not Mindbender But Very Evil) Cougar - Patrol Vehicle Grizzly - Armored Attack Vehicle Howler (Attack/Transport Hovercopter) The PIT (Egypt FTW You get to see the base and them train) Jet Packs (J.U.M.P.) G.I. Joe Battle Carrier Submarine (Shark Transport) Shark (Many) Typhoon GunShip (Attack Hovercopter) M.A.R.S Factory - Destro's Base (Polar Ice Cap FTW what a great description of this place M.A.R.S. Logo On Everything) Trident (Destro's Submarine) Night Raven Mole Pod (Buzz Bore) Scarab (Baroness - Attack Vehicle - The SUV From Hell) Mantis (Cobra Attack Sub) There are At least 45 solid pages (45 minutes) of military action not including the 15 pages (15 Minutes) of Snake Eyes Storm Shadow Story and the rest is used to explain the charaters to people who are walking in to G.I. Joe for the first time. The Major plot points: Destro and his evil organization trying to take over the world by Munipulating the world government as a major source of military weapons and technology. A super weapon is created and Destro wants it and the G.I. Joe Team is not about to let him have it without a fight. With Duke torn between the love of his life and saving the world with the rest of the G.I. Joe Team. Even if the G.I. Joe Team manages to stop Destro, the Baroness and the rest of M.A.R.S, will they be ready for whats around the corner? I really feel that Hasbro, The G.I. Joe Team, Paramount, Brian Goldner, Lorenzo DiBonaventura, Stephen Sommers and the rest of the crew really did their homework on this one. This is going to be a Home-Run for most fans and people who have no Idea what G.I. Joe is about before they sit down to have some fun with the next summer block buster. Bottom Line - Great Job and Thank You from a hardcore G.I. Joe Fan! With that said I have a few things to put out there for the fans and the movie crew. Make sure the Bubble Gum Goes to the right character.... Snake Eyes Is Silent and Deadly for 99% of the film! Destro does not wear his mask full-time however when he does you will know why and enjoy it! Yes Cobra Commander is in the Film I will never say anything more about him........ With the amount of CGI going into this film I expect it to rival the Transformers Movie Box Office Numbers. The Toys are going to Kick Ass! As a Fan Nod, Destro should wear the old school mask he has in one of the scenes. Alright guys, I tried to keep this as grounded as I could without giving away most of the major story and ending. I hope you all enjoyed the review because we have a lot to be thankful for and a lot more to look forward to in 2009 when we sit down for the first time to eat popcorn and watch a kick ass G.I. Joe Movie! See you there....... Destro!

I read the Rex script because I knew it wouldn't be made, and wanted to read the Action Man script for the same reason, but damn if I don't want to read this now and spoil the movie for myself.

Is the Shark like the original SHARC, or something new altogether? Sounds like it might be nifty. Do the joes have a fighter plane to counter the Night Raven? I'm down with the vehicles being all cgi, it sounds like the hover vehicles will be. DRAGONHAWKS ON STEROIDS FTW!!!

I would expect the Sharc to be new and updated along with all of the vehicles.

And CRIMSON Baroness suggests Crimson Guardsmen.
