hello not real sure where this should go. anyway after doing some searching about this figure I have seen 3 differnt versions so far. 1) common stores figure with no hoses. 2) online stores with hoses, and differnt capes. black/blue and grey/blue so what is the rare versions of this figure? are the onine store getting him with hoses because of choking hazzards? as of right now I have both the hose version with a grey cape and one with a black cape on order, both where instock when I placed them. according to the one online store, the item pictured is the item I will get which was the grey/black cape and hoses. I'll keep in touch once they come in.

The grey coat with hoses picture is an early prototype picture. In reallity all you've ordered are the same figures at stores now (Black coat, no hoses)
Thus far there have been none with hoses actually found in package from any store online or otherwise There hasn't been any word from Hasbro about why the hoses were removed, but it's faily obvious that it was a last minute change due to the fact that the bubble has space for the hoses and that there are some figures with the holes still in the back of the head and some with the holes filled in |

i've contacted several sellers with the stock photo with hoses both on ebay and on other sites and NONE of them have hoses and they've mostly all apologized and changed photos.

Heh, they probably saw the hoses before final release and said, "No no no, those hoses are black. That doesn't fit the color scheme we are going for." Now if they were pink or some gross pastel, then maybe they would have included them. But that is only going off of the current color schemes I have seen thus far.

after reading your post I contacted the online store again to double check, he said he had it in his hand and it is a grey cape with hoses, guess I will find out for sure next week. I just got a message back where I ordered the Black cape with hoses version, and just as you said that online store said thats not the version they have so that one was cancelled. If it's someone on ebay, it's very likely that it's an early test shot of the figure (Much like the one that showed up on ebay a while back) |

The answer is this ... the movie makers cut the hoeses from the look of their character, so in turn Hasbro changed their figure's look as well. Seriously. The only known pictures of Cobra Commander as he looks in the film are from the actual action figure, and the official picture of the character on the card. And the official pic of him on the card doesn't have the hoses either. Maybe they thought the look of having the hoses as a breathing device was redundant, seeing as how the mask itself can look and serve as his breathing device.
