That's what I've been saying for years now. As far as I'm concerned, GI Joe was another Marvel Comics superhero comic series. I don't know where the idea of a serious military story came from. Not from the toys, the comics, or the cartoon, that is for sure.

The Duke, Cobra Commander, and Baroness relationship was cringe worthy. ESPECIALLY Tatum's acting (or lack thereof). And I agree on Cobra Commander's look.
Didn't care for the Ripcord and Scarlet relationship. The individual actors did fine in their roles and I thought Wayans was one of the few bright spots. But Scarlet is Duke or Snake Eye's girl depending on which canon you prefer. Ripcord should have been hitting on Cover Girl or something. Ninja kids was a misfire on connecting with the kiddies. Show Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow as childhood friends? Fine. But abandoning they were brothers at one time who served in combat together was a mistake. Snake Eyes should have been wounded and disfigured like in the comics or GI Joe Resolute or Renegades to lose his voice, not take a vow of silence. His role as tragic hero is one of the appeals of the Marvel run.

In terms of the toys, I bought (and still buy) the military looking ones. Those reactive armor suits though? No thanks.

No. The problem with ROC is that it failed in everyway a movie could fail. The problem wasn't the futurism, the problem was the script and the execution.
