That's good to know, as I want to finish before the movie is out if possible.

you could finish it in 4 hours easy.
I liked it. I wrote a review on it that is buried somewhere in this forum. It gives good background on the characters that will be in the movie, and definitely got me more excited for the movie. |

There is really no spoilers in the book for those who are worried about that. Even though the reading is for Tweens- I think it's cool picturing Snake Eyes hitching a ride on a tank doing his recon stuffs like he's doing in this book!

aside from Ripcord, the book is decent...lots of it ends up being flashbacks in the movie... |

I thought it was pretty good, some of the backstory of the characters seemed almost spoilerish to the movie but it's not too big. The book did make me want to read the movie book now (I bought both) but I'm trying to hold off till after I see the movie. I liked about 50%-75% of Duke and Ripcord's banter.
I thought they did make Ripcord too comical (IE constantly cracking jokes) and I wasn't too crazy about everytime they introduced a character it was like they just copied a filecard. I swear I read is proficient in all NATO and Warsaw Pact Small Arms, etc... I'm sure some people like this, I didn't though |

Well, I gave in and picked up the book during my lunch break. Having a 20% coupon for a book at Borders didn't hurt. I'll probably start it on the commute home.

I liked it. and yes it was a quick read. Not that many spoilers in the book. Pretty much the last couple of chapters are what really tie into the movie. I'm debating if I should read the movie novel now or after I see the movie. I might read it after to see what's left out in the movie. Just a few weeks away.

Finished it today. I thought it was pretty neat. It'll be interesting to see if it sheds any light on events in the movie or if they changed the movie so much that it really flow into it.
