Why is it that besides the horriable looking viper comandos, Storm Shadow is the only figure with a drop leg holster, for a pistol? Yeah, Storm Shadow, Pistol and holster all in the same sentance. Please for god's sake, please use actual field research for this crap, Storm Shadow would not carry a pistol, let alon some frigg'n death ray rifle.

that actually used to annoy me about storm shadow. no ninja is bullet proof. everytime i look at him i'm thinking "raiders of the lost ark"

Storm Shadow in the old Marvel run served in Vietnam, so he might occasional use a pistol.

yes he did in nam but he also preferred his bow at all times and carried it with him in nam. as far as the spring loaded stuff which is dumb he should have the one that comes with the baroness because thats the same one he uses in the movie to shoot the tower wit the mits.

Well, they could have given SS a bow but I really don't think it would be much use against soldiers of 2019 with 'armor piercing rounds' proof armor, except for shooting eyes and heads, and it might take to long to string an be to bulky to carry. And they had to give him a long range sidearm(with better range and accuracy than shuricans) so when outgunned or outranged he could retaliate until in close range to the target. Just a thought.

Another thought, Storm Shadow has been rocking firearms for 7 years now. 2002 showed the first Storm Shadow figure with a submachine gun. As mentioned before he probably used firearms in Nam. Sure, the Bow was his "preferred" weapon, but he always comes packaged with swords too and no one complains that he uses those instead of his bow.
If Stormy is supposed to be the arch-nemesis of Snake-Eyes (Like he's basically always portrayed, except for the cartoon) then he should have some firearm since SE has always had an uzi or something similar. That's exactly like bringing a knife to a gunfight and Stormy is smarter than that
BTW, The missile launcher with the second Stormy IS the same as the one that comes with the Baroness (Only the missile is different) and the first Stormy comes with an actual detailed regular accessory of the nanomite launcher he uses in the movie, so he wouldn't need to have a spring launcher that resembled the same accessory.
As for why Stormy has a holster and the other's don't, I don't know. I'm actually torn on whether I like the holsters better or not, both have their pluses and negatives. At least some of the figures won't have a holster getting in their way of fitting into a cockpit like many 25th figures

He used a sniper rifle in his third appearance in the comics, Issue #24. Not a 'Nam flashback, but in a rescue of Cobra Commander, and he was depicted carrying it, disassembled, hidden among his ninja gear.
So, in short...yes, Storm Shadow does use guns.
