Checked 3 Walmarts over the weekend.........NOTHING. I bought all of my ROC stuff at Target and Toys R Us.....way to go Walmart you f@#king dipshits!!!!
I get the feeling that Walmart doesn't particularly care for G.I.Joe. That was evident with the 25th line. At least in my neck of the woods. Oh...and by the way, I spent around $600.00 dollars on ROC stuff and I loved not giving one red cent to that worthless shithole Walmart.

I work at Wal-Mart in the Toy department, I personally put out the the Prepack pallet of Joes the evening it came off the truck on July 9th. We had the 12" Ninjas and Snake-Eyes roleplay set out since the 6th. Just for the record I am not a dough faced mouth breather. Wal-Mart is my second job but I have been with this same store for about a decade on and off. While there are some exceptions everyone I know works very hard. I was at one point the department manager and my store was the only one that had Duke nukem, Crash Bandicoot, Speed Racer(the ones from Resaurus not Mattel),Virus, and Captain Action. I am also 36 credits way from my Bachelor's degree in International Business, with a minor in marketing, all i need is to find the money to finish my schooling.
Of course, with their shelves almost overflowing with Transformers 2 stuff, I have no idea where they'll put RoC toys, honestly. That's why I was theorizing that many Wal-Marts are in fact waiting until closer to the movie, just to try to clear off more TF2 stuff in the interim. But you'd probably know better than I. Maybe they put the stuff out today (which would be just my luck...check at opening/early morning both Saturday and Sunday with no luck hoping to score the Helix wave, then they'll put it out Monday when I go to work and even if they had it it'll be sold out by the time I get there). Yet at the same time, their in-house generic Joes (Corps!) sell better when there are similarly sized Joe products on shelves. G.I. Joe is both a competitor and a contributor to the Corps! success...which means Wal-Mart seems to get kind of schizo in how they treat the line. Last edited by Jmacq1; 07-13-2009 at 11:10 AM.. |

Went to Walmart this weekend as well and found nothing, its just weird that this major retailer is so behind everyplace else, is it bad mismanagement or they just don't care store to store. I'm sensing a little bit of both.

Or too many TF2 toys on-shelves and not enough room to put the RoC product.
Remember, Wal-Marts are supposed to be shrinking their toy departments this year, too. |

We already know this!! They got enough TF's they can give 1 away for free with every WM purchase and they would still have a gazillion of the crap in the back! I don't care if they put em on pallets and let people rummage through them to get what they want... JUST PUT THE CRAP OUT ALREADY!!

I wrote a blog post on this same subject. Wal-Mart managers are idiots.

I know we got some of the Transformers stuff late, so some stores may have not gotten the all the merchandise yet. I even had problems with Dumfries once. It was an older guy in the toy department, I even told him I was from the store in Manassas and I could show him how to find something and he was insisting that only his dept. manager could show him or he would get in trouble. We routinely send other people to other stores in the district to help with remodels and resets and I am sure no one gets in trouble when they are shown how to do something. I finally gave up with him and got an asst manager.

I thought they weren't though:

TDmonthly - Wal-Mart reduces toy space Wal-Mart's been planning the reduction for a couple years now, from all indications, and probably announced it at the time in a not-very-well publicized manner. Thus it's not "new". It's an old/already existing plan taking effect. Likewise, "companywide" means that as long as they don't reduce the toy space at every single store in their company, their statement is legally correct. So long as one Wal-Mart retains their current shelf space for toys, they're in the clear. I know that's a horribly cynical way to look at it, but that's almost exactly what I'd expect. Their statement kinda reeks of corporate-speak. |
