*****DO NOT READ BELOW IF YOU DON'T WON'T TO KNOW!!! -No Shipwreck in the novel but was in the leaked script -Snake Eyes was French, Scarlett was Australian, Hawk was British, and Storm Shadow was Korean in the leaked script but in the novel it doesn't mention SE's nationality at all, Scarlett is now Canadian, Hawk is American, and SS is Japanese. -The Arashikage Dojo was in Paris in the leaked script and is in Tokyo in the novel -Lifeline and Sgt. Stone were added in the novel. Stone b/c it's Brenden Fraser's part in the movie -Zartan kills Covergirl in the novel, where SS does it in the leaked script -Snake Eyes' speaking part was removed from the script when Hama joined the crew and is not in the novel -Covergirl is a Czech Lieutenant and is not American according to the novel. She is a German Lieutenant in the leaked script The Prequel novel also has differences on the nationalities of the GIJoe team. All but Breaker in the prequel ARE American and are straight from the original filecards(other than Ripcord still being black and Duke being an Officer).

Another difference is that SS admits to SE that he in fact did NOT kill The Hardmaster prior to falling.
This is very cool and much like the comic. Cobra Commander is indeed a bad ass and SS seems to be a bigger character in the book than SE is! |

For any true Joe fan, this movie is right on Target! For those of you who keep saying it will suck because of this or that, I offer you the following, back in the 80's we were treated 5 days a week to some pretty far fetched cobra schemes, and some of them if made into a movie would have never been taken serious....admit it, but this IS Classic G.I.JOE, in every sense of the word, ......And sure some of the origins have changed, but it's like in comics, sometimes things have to be changed when put to film, In Comics batman is in grey and blue, in movies he wears a black costume.....So a Joe's birthplace got changed, I understand I'm a little upset about it as well, but I understand in the grand scheme of things it's all good!
Cobra and Joe get a origin film...we get to see the story unfold, and we get to see our childhood heroes on the big screen in complete surround sound! What's not to love? I'm one of the biggest Joe fans here in MS. And I'll tell you, I'm already pleased in the direction that Hasbro has taken, this film just put a big ol booster shot in the arm of the G.I.JOE Franchise, We now have more G.I.JOE toys on shelves then we've had in years, and the top retailers are backing the brand! So if you want to keep looking at the glass as half empty....go ahead.....I'll look at it as half Full! Yo-Joe! |

Baroness is SUPPOSE DTO BE AMERICAN!!!!!! Hama created her that way and wrote her tht way and has said so himself many times.....the cartoon producers for no reason gave her that accent.....she was never intended to have it!!! I love people who complain and dont even know the facts........just dont go see the movie.....you think it will suck so YES it will suck period TO YOU no matter what........there is no way these bashers will enjoy it so why go see it?
I don't care that she is American, my ability to form new interests and likes didn't get stunted in 1985, just that there is a significant flaw in your claim. |

Ok first off, DO NOT SCREW with the history of one of our most beloved characters (Snake Eyes) sure it's got some of the correct parts, but over all it's crap.
Secondly, Marlin Wayne as ripcord? please that boy couldn't act his way outta a paper sack let alone play a semi serious character. Finally, this movie isn't really made for the fans of the 80's joes, it's truly made to grab the attention of kids and sell toys, that's all. Will I see the movie? yes of course, but will I blast the hell outta it if it sucks? Of course I will. I hope for the best, but am ready for the worst. They gotta make money and cater to the next generation..you think the movie industry cares that my 32 yr old ass is pissed off that they cast Marlon Wayons as Ripcord? One of the most important charecters in the comic run?? You think they care that our 30 someodd year old senimental asses are gonna be pissed that the Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow storyline is all kinds of screwy? Its ok...WE KNOW what we saw back when it was REAL in the 80's...and we still get out fix with solid comic books, 25th line toys and The Tank itself. As far as someone said earlier in this thread, something like "its cool they didnt change the charecters up too much" or something like that......LOL WTF KINDA G.I. JOE WERE YOU PAYING ATTENTION TO BACK WHEN!?!?!? These charecters are like are almost NOTHING like the originals!!! They are watered down and greatly altered! I hope it does well and I hope people enjoy it...I'll see it, but when push comes to shove I stand with Mr. Larry Hama and the original and 25th line of figures, comics and charecters!
