I love it. As much as the acting in the original star wars movies is bad, the bright spots have come from unknown theater actors playing the roles of villians.
I think a theater actor approach roles differently than studio actors and they give better performances when given supporting roles. |

Hmmmm. Are you serious? Hayden Christensen's is a theatrical GENIUS! [/sarcasm] All I care about is whether or not this Gent can pull it off. Reports are reading that he can play the part well...so that's all I care about! All I'm hoping for is that the Baroness gets kidnapped and/or taken hostage at some point in the film so that Destro can rock his v2 Gear! w00t! |

I haven't watched the prequels all that much. I'm just going by 4-6. It's one of the few examples that everyone knows as films that fill in supporting roles with veteran stage actors.

Hey, this is pretty neat news! I pretty much always like the casting of an unknown, versus a well established Hollywood actor. No matter what...it's like the viewer always seems to see the "Named Actor" playing "Movie Role"....and not just the "Movie Role".
So with this casting...perhaps we'll all just be able to see "Destro", and not "Mr. Big Name Actor-Man playing Destro". And the fact that he's a theater actor is really interesting and a great move. The only thing I'd hope for, is that he hits the gym big time to get a little bulked-up. Destro's always been Big & Imposing in physical stature. Basically the antithesis of Cobra Commander...who's been portrayed as the meeker/more wily villain. So hit those weights, David Murray! -Peter |

I think GI Guppy was referring to actors such as Peter Cushing and Alec Guiness from ANH.
And BTW, X-Men had two great theatre actors, Ian McKelan and Patrick Stewart. Yes, theatre actors are nice to have on any cast.
