After 13 pages it's no surprise, the people that hate, still hate and the people that support still support. Nothing has changed, nor will it. If the movie lines fails people we'll still have people praising its attempt. If it succeeds (God willing, I'll explain why in a moment) then people will still trash it and tear it down because they dislike it, for reasons that have been explained to death.
If the movie toys works, thank f'n God! GI Joe needs a serious boost! Without it nothing is going to get made, no modern era, no movie stuff. NOTHING. Who wants to see that happen? I hope no one. To kill a franchise we all love for the simple gift of being "I told you so" is disgusting. I'm not a huge fan of the movie figures and vehicles but the rare gems offered up and the prospect of continuing the modern era and resolute sculpts are enough for me to support Hasbro here. I know what I said has been stated 1000 times already, I'm just continuing the trend of over stating the obvious.

i just think that the people who dont like ROC should give it a second chance, i was one of the people who was bummed about this line after toyfair and now im geeked about ROC. there are some really great figs in this line and a lot of great custom fodder as well. but seriously with the figs i have gotten so far i am very impressed with. i think the line will do good.

I'm going to high light the important parts because Kneroh sums it up best.

Like it, love it, loathe it, RoC is here to stay. Hasbro didn't ask our opinions back when it was in development and they don't care about our opinions now. RoC is what Hasbro choose to do as the new Joe, for whatever reasons and it really doesn't matter what the reasons are. It is what it is. The ME line was a stagnant line, maybe a year, maybe 5, it would have died out and that would have been that. Could there have been a surge done if a more ARAH-accurate movie had been done? Maybe, maybe not. We won't ever know. Resolute is not a benchmark to indicate interest in Joe. The only people that watched it were hardcore old school Joe fans that frequeant the forums and Warren Ellis fans. There's a reason it didn't get a better timeslot or better advertising. It was the "bone" given to us old school fans. I think we all want Joe to be on the shelves for years to come I think we all want the brand to grow and flourish. We don't have to like the package on the shelf, but it is what it is. The only way to get the ME/ARAH-Accurate stuff back (technically, RoC is ME because the construction/mold/style of the figures is the same) is for the toys to sell so they end up doing for Joe what they do for Star Wars. We got lucky that we got as much ME stuff as we did. The 25th anniversary wasn't ever meant to be this large, but Hasbro saw the chance to bridge the time from the actual 25th to the time of RoC and they took that chance. Be thankful we got what we got. We all want the franchise to grow. You don't have to like the product on the shelves but don't come down on the ones that do. Be thankful that there's renewed interest in Joe after all this time. Every little bit counts. Does anyone seriously want Joe to disappear? There is no gurantee that if the RoC stuff bombs that the ME-ARAH stuff will come back. This thread was meant for a sharing of excitment that there's interest from the kids in Joe again. How and why anyone would want to hate on that excitement is beyond me.

I've seen quite a few kids buying Joes this past week. I can't blame them. I've "seen the light" myself. I was a movie hater, but then I bought a few figures, and once you open them up, they really are pretty fantastic. Then I read the novelization of the movie, and can actually identify with the characters in this new iteration, and I'm even more excited. The reason I hated before is because all the trailers, figures and everything were taken out of context. I was comparing them to the classics, and you just can't do that here. This is a new Joe universe, with a pretty solid story, and some amazing figures. I'm glad the kids are digging it.

First, let me help us BOTH out. You wrote this:
Now, we'll just fix up that mess: There, at least one can now make out what you are attempting to communicate. The LEAST of what I have to "go at" with you is your grammar. Your arguments are poor at best and your rhetoric is the worst kind of hyperbolic drivel. First, I never stated that you had said anything about God smiting collectors. I asked you if God would smite all GI JOE COLLECTIBLES if the movie bombs. I also asked you if you truly believed the "hyperbole that you crap out on a daily basis?" Which you did not answer either. You HAVE NOT SEEN THE MOVIE! Listen, Xhairs, if you come back after having seen the film and want to rant, I will listen to what you have to say. Right now your opinion on the film is null and void, pointless and idiotic. I see you, and a handful of others, blasting the film day in and day out based on next to nothing; five minutes of footage, a few interviews and a handful of photos. If you calculate the percentage of the film you have ACTUALLY seen it’s less than 5%. What I look for are informed and well thought out reviews and opinions, neither of which you have. I will be looking forward to your review of the film AFTER you have seen it. Then you will actually have something to base your baseless opinions on. Lastly, you're absolutely right, Batman totally disappeared from the planet until "Batman Begins." There were no comics, video games, cartoons or action figures lines of any kind until Christopher Nolan resurrected it. Great point. ok First, I never stated that you had said anything about God smiting collectors. I asked you if God would smite all GI JOE COLLECTIBLES if the movie bombs. 1 first no god will not. everyone has there tastes in what toys they want to buy.Alos if the movie tanks god will do nothing about it. that is all on the fans. I also asked you if you truly believed the "hyperbole that you crap out on a daily basis?" Which you did not answer either. 2 what i say i do believe in or i wouldn't say it. I am not one just to say stuff. yes i suck at grammar i cant spell or write for my life. I do say what i mean. I have said i will buy a few real roc figs the good ones lol. though i will buy more 25th/me & resolute figs. i dont want joe to die. i can recall back in the day when that happen cuse they tried to change it so much to fit in with the times it didnt work. i dont want that to happen agin. thats why i say they should give us 2 lines so all will be happy and support the line as a whole. Lastly, you're absolutely right, Batman totally disappeared from the planet until "Batman Begins." There were no comics, video games, cartoons or action figures lines of any kind until Christopher Nolan resurrected it. Great point i dont want to see this happen with joes. Movies can make or break a toy line the batman was just prof of one next was street fighter. I know there others that this has happen to. Also why TF has lasted as long as they have is cuse they have always had a cartoon to back up its toy line. now the movies. that all kinds of ppl like and want the toys. Joe has not. look at joe extreme it had toys and a cartoon but it was so bad it didnt last. also the figs where not made the same either. Now look the 25th might not be a o ring (witch i love as you can tell in my sig & customs) But it brought back the old look with improved look and gear. Look at S6 the size & cost killed that line tie that with a bad cartoon. I am just saying they should stick with what works. 3 3/4in figs have a good cartoon or movie to back it up. I think the best thing for Joe would be a cartoon sires and see how that goes. also not to release 2 movies based on toys in the same yr. TF has the biggest fan base next to SW Oh there is a topic about joe toy commercials that just popped up. I said that awhile ago in a resolute tread i think. That they need to promote Joe more. they are listening i hope. thats a good start to say hey there are new joe toys. That was the biggest problem for joe for so long. no media to support joe the toys. IE cartoon or toy commercials. now the real thing that hasbro is looking for is sale on its toys. they could care less if the movies do well or not. Yes if they do well it will help sell toys you hope. Some ppl may not buy the toys and just see the movie. If that is the case then how will hasbro make money if no one buys the toys??? that is the thing we all are missing. Hasbro is just a toy company nothing more. so see the movie or dont it dosent matter it all comes down to sales of toys. |

I was blown away when, upon entering a TRU, I saw two 8-10year old boys holding a couple RoC figures each. Evidently, gentlemen... children like GI Joe now.
Though, they were calling Heavy Duty "Fat Duty" which I thought was great. XD Tom
