First off, please, no spoilers...
I usually would never read the book first (or ever, usually), if it's based on a film. When a film is based on a book, I try to read it first, since it's the original. In this case I have a feeling the book might be better than the movie. What do you think? Has anyone done it yet?

If you're speaking of RoC I don't think it's going to matter.

Read the novel. Made me even more excited to see the movie. If you have any doubt about strength of plot or anything like that, which is holding you back from seeing the movie, then read the book.
It's not the most well-written novel and it's a quick read. Only took me a couple of hours. But definately gave me high hopes for the movie.

I decided to read the "prequel" book, and am glad I did. It helped set my expectations regarding the characters, relationships, background etc without spoiling the events of the movie.
As Troynos said, not the best author for these, but a quick read none the less (and only 5.97 at Walmart) |

A book can read better than a movie looks. If I had read the novelization of Transformers, I probably would have loved it, being able to imagine G1-inspired designs rather than Johnny Fives on steroids. Probably would have enjoyed The Phantom Menace, too, not having to hear Jar-Jar's voice.

I read the adaption. It's not the best written book, kind of amateurish IMHO, but it does convey the story very well and the plot is ALOT stronger then people think. After reading the adaption, it all works. All the little changes, they work in the context of the RoC universe.

R.A. Salvatore's Attack of the Clones was the same way. It expanded on stuff in greater detail (Anakin killing the Sandtroopers, Anakin and Padme's developing relationship for examples), and just helped fill in some blanks. I didn't read Matthew Stover's Revenge of the Sith novelization. The tone of voice he was using turned me off and didn't get past the first chapter.

I read the prequel, which I really enjoyed (I wrote a review on it that is probably on about page 10 now in the Joe Movie forum).
I don't wanna read the novelization of the movie before I see it, because I wanna be surprised by the movie. I'll probably read it after I see it though. |
