Star Trek doesn't have nearly the same appeal to it as Joe. GI JOE is known by many generations so that helps. Plus, it's a combat action movie with lots of play value.
>>>>>>>>>>>> I disagree with that statement on many levels ,Star Trek has a much bigger and longer following than Gi Joe that spans over 40 years ,with five TV shows ,over 13 feature films some of which are cult classics (Star trek 2 wrath of Khan ,#6 the Undiscovered country)Star trek conventions are HUGE ,merchandising is on a much bigger scale that Gi Joe ,and the movies alone have generated over one billion dollars in revenue for Paramount ,the re-launch or reboot of the film that came out two months ago did VERY well at the box office for many weeks and received good word of mouth and critical reviews ,i seriously doubt that the Gi Joe movie that will open next month will do even half of the business Star Trek did ? Does Star Trek translate into kids toys well ,not really you have a good point there and i won't argue with that ,seeing figures wearing the same uniform in different colours probably doesn't make kids beg thier parents to buy them one ,Playmates really dropped the ball with their latest assortment ,bad sculpts ,body construction and lack of attention to detail made them pegwarm even for diehard collectors . Star Trek has.. chairs, computers, and figures that don't do shit. |

One other point you are missing is that the ST toys were horrible. They had almost no points of articulation and couldn't really be played with.
Joes have always sold well because of A the comics and cartoons and B articulation and accessories. Swivel arm battle grip was a MAJOR plus over even the figures other companies make today. |

Destro and Baroness are proving to be hard finds as neither my Target or Toys R Us had either.
Peg Warmer? Seems to be Duke and Snake Eyes |

I have seen a fair number of ROC figures leave the shelves now (at 3 Targets and a TRU). I think it is doing fairly well in it's first week but I can only comment on those 4 stores. As for other lines, Target is clearing out the old pre-ROC Joes for cheap as well as the Terminator figures for like $3.98.
I find the Wave 2 Joes (for the stores that had them) sold out pretty fast or have remnants left. There are plenty of Armor Rip Cords and tons of left over Heavy Duty's in both the armored and non-armored version. On the wave 2 front surprisingly the unmasked Storm Shadow seems to be all over the place (but the masked one has far less left). Last edited by Boombatty; 07-10-2009 at 02:07 PM.. |

I'd be interested to see how the line moves once the movie comes out. But right now I'm noticing that the figures most often left behind in numbers are Breaker, Zartan and Ripcord.
One time I was surprised to find a number of Destro, Duke (Desert) and Snake Eyes (ninja commando) still on the pegs. The Night Raven is moving slowly as are the Gunships and all Alpha class vehicles. The Steel Crusher and Ice Dagger move quickly.

So far most of them seem to be plentiful. The CC, PP SE, PP SS, and Ice Viper are the ones that disappear fast after they are stocked...

not sure what the ROC peg warmers are yet but im noticing the pit commando is a hard fig to find along with flash and elite viper, guessing they are all in the same wave as far as i know might be why i havnt found them yet.
