Are the new Rise of Cobra figures outselling or selling at a faster pace then: Star Trek, Transformers and or Terminator Salvation?
It seems that those toys sat on shelves and did not move, now they are all being clearanced. I hit four places over the weekend and purchased a boat load of ROC stuff. When I returned today to go for round two almost all the Joes were gone at every location that I already hit. Admittedly I did not purchase really any of the other lines so I do not recall how fast they sold. |

It's impossible to get an overall picture based just on anecdotal evidence.
My TRU was completely sold out of single cards in a day. But one of the Targets I went to had a very full display that only seemed to be shy one figure (Camo Scarlett) from the two wave 1 collections. Even after I was done there were still plenty on the shelves. Admittedly, that was "day of release" so maybe I just got there early. The real test is going to be after everyone has their big displays up, and even more so after the movie is released. If the displays are still full a week after the movie comes out...might be time to start worrying about the future of the Joe toy line...unless they sell really well at Christmas. I can say this though: Star Trek and Terminator certainly didn't sell out their first day, or their first week, or their first month at my local TRU. Star Trek has sold slightly better than Terminator, but there's still plenty of product on-shelves. |

While some Tankers may disagree about the overall line and/or movie, I think that the ROC figures are much higher quality than both the Star Trek and Terminator lines (at least in the 3 3/4 inch lines). I don't know if that will mean anything to kids, but I was actually shocked at how poor the other 2 lines looked on the pegs when they were released in April/May. The Star Trek figures in particular just looked cheap and boring, despite that movie being great.

thats what I am saying...... I certainly did not see any other line sell this quick in awhile. the funny thing with all the naysayers about this line it seems that collectors are the majority of people who are buying it up.

Well, bear in mind G.I. Joe does already have an active collector base, divided though it may be on the subject of the movie.
Star Trek and (especially) Terminator not so much. There are folks that collect Star Trek "stuff" certainly, but they haven't had a very active action figure presence for a few years now. Not to mention that it certainly didn't have 3 3/4" offerings. |

The figures are superior to any figures on the shelves and blow the crap away they tried to shovel out for Stra Trek and Temrinator. If they took some notes and made those figures like the ROC/25th/Modern ones it might have been different. Ask yourself of all the stuff on the shelves which have you perosannly bought: The Corps, Xmen, Iron Man, Star Wars, Extreme Detail(Target army figures), Ben 10, or GI JOE 25th/modern/ROC, Star Trek and Termiantor. I myself have only bought the 25th/modern/ROC figures and an occasional Star Wars figure for parts to make more 25th/Modenr figures. And that F-22 Combat Heros thing..
I think were going to have a larger assortment for at least the first few months of this first main 30+ figure wave, but depending on how much we get for custom fodder and all the kids after the movie wanting thier favorites, it could either get really huge or get really small and fall into the black abyss. However from the first 30 figure wave, I don't see any reason to coninue them under ROC flag once the movie has ocme and gone they can return to Modern ARAH or move into Resolute after this first 30 figures, we DO NOT need 400 SE and SS reapints in the next 30 figure wave...ther eis not that many fiugres in this movie and we do not need all of the 25th/modenr figures redon ein the ROC style just to continue pushing the movie topic.

I can tell you I have been in every store that may sell GI Joe ROC toys for 40 miles of my home, over the last 5 days and they are selling fast in some areas while very slow in others. The big boon to this toy line will be fans and collectors. Right now I do not feel any one can answer your question. It is just way to early to tell. Give the toy line time to be seen on shelves as well as sold in more stores and then ask that question.

I agree. I also wonder if the collectors and scalpers will buy up these figures to the point of having a shortage when the movie hits.
Also its quite sad that the "Tough Troopers" are like $3.00 more than the ROC figures. I know they have light up stuff and whatknot but they are aimed at the under 10 crowd. |
