I think these have been made in high enough quantities that it will be very hard for the relatively small existing collector base to cause a "shortage" by themselves. Maybe on a few particular figures (at least until they start showing up in revision cases), but certainly not the line as a whole.

I understand. I saw three little boys at the Target end cap pleading with their mother to buy them some of the figures. That made me smile. I feel good about the prospect of these toys doing well.

As others have said, the true test of the ROC line will be the first few weeks after the movie comes out. If the kids start buying them up then Hasbro has a hit. If the kids don't bite and it remains a collectors only line, then Hasbro may have overplayed their hand by clogging the pegs. In my area, it looks like the figures are fairly available, although not all waves have appeared. I'm specifically looking for the Paris Pursuit wave and have yet to find it at TRU or Target.

Unnecessary fearmongering. Hasbro's proven (and often repeated) business model is to return to "classic" product during lulls/between movies. I do think we might never go back to full on "classic cardbacks with classic characters" but I'm quite confident that "classic" (and Resolute) figures will be seen again. Maybe under "Rise of Cobra" branding, and maybe under some other kind of "unified" line.
I don't believe we'll ever get split/separate lines for movie/classic product either. Just like Star Wars puts out Prequel and Original trilogy all under one banner, G.I. Joe will put out movie and non-movie stuff under one banner. The only way we might get a split line is if new animation shows up and they choose to do figures in an "animated" style. |

In my area it seems like me and another tanker are the only ones buying these up, but I also just heard from another collector that he didn't know they were coming out this weekend so he's running around buying stuff up.
I like the feeling that I don't have to rush out and buy everything lest I never see it again |

Good point, I have to say I agree 100% with what you said.
I am reading how so many people are spending a lot of money thus far.... this line seems to be selling at the same pace as the 25th line. The only real difference is they have stocked the shelf's making it easier to buy as you go. There is no necessity to buy everything at once in fear that the dreaded scalpers scooping everything up. |
