I am always adamant about the source material and original look of the characters myself. I am of the opinion that they team should have had most of the original Joes and then have Duke join in the movie but I am not the one writing it.

and once again if they wanted a black guy whos a air dude...STATIC LINE was a cool charcater and under rated figure and shoulda have been used and Shermar Moore should have played him. Wayans as "ripcord" was just a dumb idea and someone musta been hitting the happy toke when they thought of this one.

I loved Static Line as a kid, and would have been totally pissed off if Marlon Wayans was cast to play him.

I wouldnt have been happy to see marlon play static line but at least static line was presetablished as black. and yes i would been pissed if they reversed it and made a white guy static line

Wouldn't you agree that he is on par with the majority of the casting for this film. Its not like they have Oscar winners parading around as Joes and or Cobra.

Do you have a bigger issue with a) that he is comic relief, b) that he in no way resembles the original, or c) that it is Marlon Wayans? My response is a) if he is based on Stalker, read Marvel issue 1. Stalker is comic relief to some degree, much like Ripcord is in the movie. b) A FAIR number of figures from VvV and SpyTroops and even before played with the appearance DRASTICALLY of figures. Beards were shaved and added, race was altered, and most of the time they didn't look a thing like the original. If you go back to the 80s, the cartoon and the comic clashed too. So, appearance shouldn't be the defining problem for anyone. It has been dealt with before. And c) I can't help the casting.
