Seriously dude. When is the use of an adjective deemed "racist?" It's called hyperbole and sarcasm. Stop being ubersensitive and p.c. I'm African American. Unless of course your African American, if I didn't have a problem with comment why should you? Quote:
If it's not aimed at the old fans, then why not do something totally different? The fact that it's based on Joe vs. Cobra shows who the film is made for. It's not like it a film about a soldier with kung fu grip! They're targeting 80's fans.
What Hasbro likely wants is for those of us who grew up with GI Joe in the 80's to take our own kids to see this and buy new toys. It's a reboot for sure, but it is still dependent on us adults who watched the show in the 80's to introduce it to our kids. They did this a bit with Transformers, but kids gravitate to giant robots. I think they miscalculated with GI Joe though. I think this new version of GI Joe is harder for kids to adopt without the parents getting them involved because a lot of the fun seems to have disappeared. The all black suits and grizzled villain just isn't as much fun as the 80's show. 'Fun' is why kids fell in love with the GI Joe to begin with. Cobra Commander was a bad guy, but was still cool in his own way (however inept he really was). Now he's just another Hollywood villain who has a troubled past and a disfigurement which therefore gives an excuse for being evil (which is lame). If Hasbro went the route of having new characters with members of the old team heading the new team and figthing a new villain people would've probably been more receptive. If Hasbro doesn't have faith enough in a product for it to stand on it's own merits, as opposed to hijacking the RAH line, then why as a consumer should I patronize that product? |

The only reason Superman Returns was considered such a "disappointment" is because Warner Brothers included the production costs of all of the (many) aborted attempts at a Superman movie that had occurred between "Superman IV" and "Superman Returns" in the production cost for the latter. This ended up ballooning the production costs by $50-$100 million dollars. Success is relative to production costs. If it makes under the production cost in domestic box office it's usually a "disappointment." If it goes over it's a "hit." Beyond all that, folks need to remember what the real catalyst for RoC getting green-lighted was: Transformers. That movie took great liberties with the characters, backstory, and designs, and was still a huge hit. That's the template that formed what G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra would become. I agree with Rocky. Being black I found this comment was offensive and totally out of line. It shows Dmizrok for the insensitive, racist white supremist that he actually is. I'm going to call the National Action Network and have Rev. Sharpton protest his employers until he's fired.
Seriously dude. When is the use of an adjective deemed "racist?" It's called hyperbole and sarcasm. Stop being ubersensitive and p.c. I'm African American. Unless of course your African American, if I didn't have a problem with comment why should you? Here in lies the the problem. Hasbro and Paramount in there arrogance and disrespect for the fan base assumed that we would accept anything with the Joe brand name and characters in it. For some reason they didn't realize that characters in the Real American Hero line have a fixed place in the consciousness of the fandom. That place is a modern AMERICAN military fighting a terrorist organization determined to rule the world. Headed by a guy who wears a hood or a battle helmet. You can't change twenty-fives years worth of history then suddenly (and with no good reason I may,) turned it into something totally different and expect the fandom to accept it. It's kinda like having a Superman movie where he's of in space for a number of years, then having him return to earth, have him spying on Lois Lane, and giving him and Lois a "super love child." If Warner Bros. did this movie it probably wouldn't do to well.

I been saying that C.C.s origin shouldnt even be revealed...it wasnt shown on the first cartoon episode, it wasnt in the first comic and it wasnt on his filecard...Its cooler when you dont know bad guys motivations, till later on....
and Storm Shadow...there shouldnt be any indication that him and Snake Eyes know each other, till the whole sleeve rip thing , like the comic...leave it for a sequel... |
