Joe vs. TF comics showed Mainframe working hard to revive an obliterated Bumblebee in a dire need of life support. Mainframe pointed at this sleeping giant saying; there's still life in there. Today, roles are reversed. The Joe brand is in a deep coma, a "sleep" said Derryl DePriest. Eventually TF will be needed to help revive Joe. This brings us to an important question...
QUESTION: Story-wise how can the Hasbroverse Transformers films help bring back Joe? Feel free to use anything out of pure imagination. Or any source material (from the past). |

I know a lot of fans would have a problem with the File Name change, but I thought from the very first TF movie that Josh Duhamel would be a great Flint. They should just transition him into a leading role in a GI Joe movie and build a team around him, maybe due to his handling special matters, he's put on a team to combat a new growing threat. Cobra is using Cybertron tech in one of their classic sci-fi plots. Add water, mix, boom: plot for the next GI Joe.

I hope in a total brand new crossover reboot of G.I.JOE and Transformers together.
A "ANNO ZERO"...

In the next TF movie, Josh Duhamel becomes 'Duke' and Tyrese Gibson becomes 'Roadblock.' Change nothing else and make 10 more Transformer movies using the same formula.

Next year's Bumblebee movie is set in the 1980s.
Just that alone makes for an interesting starting point. |

I was actually thinking about that, as well. You can have two separate storylines going. The 80's Bumblebee teases and slowly adds the classic ARAH Joes, while the current storyline adds Marissa Faireborne as the central figure in a new, modernized GI Joe that can introduce all new characters to get kids hooked. The 80's Joes could be classic to draw in old fans, the modern Joes can be more sci-fi/kid friendly to generate new fans. I think that would be a great way to have your cake and eat it too, Hasbro.

A lot rode on an experiment called Rogue One; whose success determined Star Wars future. Success now brought us future films on a familiar past --- Solo, Boba, Obi. This exact same experiment in the past will take place in next year's Bumblebee movie. Classic 1980s ARAH Joe can make a little cameo in Bumblebee (echoing dbritt) and slowly build Joe's comeback.
Old and new can appear together. Example. What Luke is to Rey; Dial Tone can be to his daughter Dial Tone of Renegades. What Blind Master is to one generation; "Silent Master Snake Eyes" can be to a new generation. We can stretch-out characters throughout time. A young COLONEL named Abernathy in Bumblebee's "past" movie, can become the high ranking GENERAL Hawk in rebooted Hasbroverse TF future movies. What classic Serpentor is in Bumblebee's past; a far bigger badder "Serpent O.R. Prime" can be in future Hasbroverse films. All in all, Bumblebee's exciting experimental film; can help kick-off both G.I.Joe's comeback to the past, future, and even a mix of both. |

Tuskegee Joe asked me to post some pics of real-life military vehicles from an Encyclopedia I mentioned in another thread. Photos were snapped with my IPad from "The Encyclopedia of World Military Weapons" by Chris Bishop and Ian Drury, Crescent Books, NY: 1988)
This profile drawing of the M60A1 looks a lot like the MOBAT Of course, so does this Stingray Light Tank Real-world inspiration for Oktober Guard personnel carrier, there are Soviet versions of this same carrier This German transport looks a lot like the APC to me The Slugger looks like it could be a blend of a Self-Propelled Howitzer and the Cadillac Gage The real-world inspiration for the MMS, which also explains "Hawk's" code name The Whirl Wind looks, to me, like a combo of a Vulcan cannon and this 20-mm anti-aircraft gun Finally, this anti-aircraft gun, to me, looks like the real-world inspiration for the Cobra ASP If a Bumblebee movie is set in the past, maybe they could utilize some of these older military vehicles as 'Joe weapons, and help breath some life back into a 'Joe movie franchise. Looks like this Transformers is going to be the lowest grossing one in the series probably. I wonder how that will affect things moving forward for Hasbro. What's sad is it looks so much better than 4. That movie was horrendous. It made no sense and felt like 2 movies put together. I truly hope they figure out a tone and style for Joe. I would prefer the TF connection be minimal though. It is necessary though.

I've been thinking about this for years now and if Hasbro wants to get in on the shared universe thing and make GI Joe relevant again I think something like this is the way to go. Since the TF films have such a big focus on the human characters anyway lets cut out the family stuff and give the military guys a bigger role.
A natural transition between Transformers and GI Joe is Mask. In the next TF movie they should have Duhamel's character working with Mask and part of the Mask team could be a couple recognizable Joes, these characters need to look cool and or have memorable personalities, everyone dressing the same doesn't cut it. Venom has gained power by reverse-engineering TF tech, maybe Miles Mayhem is seen communicating with a shadowy figure that is a Cobra courier. Mask was formed as a response to this rising threat and like Mask a few Cobras can be sprinkled into the Venom ranks, Copperhead and Wild Weasel would fit nicely. If all of that is well received with your average movie goer then Mask gets an official film with additional Joes and Cobras in prominent roles leading to a new iteration of GI Joe. This could work but the powers that be need patience, don't just toss Snake Eyes, Duke and Cobra Commander into the next TF movie thinking that equals instant Avengers money or popularity. |
