The only way Sommers wouldn't be back for a sequal is if he's got a prior committement and I'm pretty sure he's smart enough to leave the window open in his schedule for a sequal.

Sommers will get the boot, and the second film will be salvaged. Im not going to say TF1 sucked, I truly enjoyed it, but I see what Bay fixed up in the second film and it worked. I see this happening in the second Joe flick.

So they'd boot one of the people responsible for the movie being such a success that it warrants a sequal??

After the success of Batman, and Batman Returns, Warner Bros. was able to convince Tim Burton to turn over the directing reigns to Joel Schoemaker. We all know how well that turned out.

Well I'm not sure if I'm happy or not. The movie doesn't look good at all so the sequels probably won't be much better. I just wish they wouldn't butcher my childhood anymore, Thanks Transformers Movie for that one!
On the other hand GI Joe will be in the public eye more which I guess is a good thing. I just wish they would still release the classic figures. I miss them, again! |

How does a movie coming out now butcher your childhood? Is the movie seeping into your brain and erasing your memories?

I think he means what most of us mean when we say that, which is that it's butchering what we grew up with. He's not saying they're ruining his actual childhood or tainting how we view our past memories. But they are "butchering" the property we grew up loving, and that's what we don't like seeing.

How though? It's another version of Joe. If you look at it like that, then Resolute is butchering our childhood as well.
And so is IDW. It's just different degrees and how much you may or may not like it.
