I'm of the "wait and see" opinion. All the pieces are there to make something that may not be better but may be just as good. It'll be different, but will it be worse or better? Only time will tell. Won't know until see how it develops.
The first year of ARAH, '82, was pretty bland with the look of the figures. For the most part they all look the same and there wasn't that much "pop" to 'em. It really wasn't until the 2nd year that ARAH started to develop more unique looking characters (Duke, Gung-Ho, Snow Job, Airborne, Doc, etc..). Even the construction got better. How many of us would have continued to buy Joes if they had remained straight armed and didn't get the swivel grip? Like I said, all the pieces are there (bland, generic and underdeveloped is a matter of opinion; I've seen successful franchises that are built on less of a foundation then Roc, hell most comic books start off with less), it's just a matter of how they develop and grow it. |

True that.
It's just hard to watch the 25th line explode... only to watch it fizzle into RoC. Even if the RoC develops into something bigger and better, I personally won't have the same connection as I did to ARAH. I'm a nostalgia collector first and foremost. I fully realize I'm in the minority of what Hasbro is after. So really, what I'm saying is, I'm hugely disappointed the 25th line is over and I'll have to settle for the occasional tribute figure here or there, and I'm hugely disappointed that the next generation of Joe fans won't enjoy the ARAH universe like I did. I think Marvel fans could liken it to how they would feel if the Ultimate universe was the mass-marketed version, with the regular universe going by the wayside, with only the occasional nod.
