I mean seriously. Everyone in the jingoistic bandwagon here seems to be missing the fact that their precious Joes are made in a hugely Communist country.
If you guys are all so pro-America, maybe you should buy American. Buying products made in China is ruining the American job market, you are traitors to your country blah blah blah Rush Limbaugh. |

The Baroness does refer to them as real American heroes. Should someone be excluded because they aren't American even though they're as good or better than what you'd accept if they were American? |

Because then its not GI JOE.
GI JOE is referring to Ripcord and Duke chasing her who are actually American, and she's saying it in a sarcastic tone. Since Captain America is too patriotic and jingoistic, there's no way the movie can play around the rest of the world. Let's expand Captain America to include other parts of the world and call him Captain America. |

right, what is that one out of a million? if you look in a chineese phone book you might find a joe, but chances are very slim jack.. you sayin that is racist is actually sayin the term every dick tom an harry is racist.. cus a majority of toms dicks an harrys are caucasion... you gotta come better then that my man..
Mark Twain also had a Tom and Jim, both black in his very famous stories. Richard (Dick) Roundtree was the immortal Shaft. And Harry A. Cole was the first black judge to serve on Maryland's state supreme court, and then there's Smokin' Joe Frazier. As much as I hate to utterly obliterate your narrow-ass view of the great, white world (a lie, I love doing that to people), your continued arguments just make you look even more uninformed and your opinions even less researched. Oh yeah, and for those mentioning Capt. America, it should be noted that in recent years (like, since the 80s) he's become a thorough deconstruction of blind patriotism and flag-waving. |

Maybe their risk will pay off, maybe it won't, but one thing is ABSOLUTELY certain: Hasbro and Paramount have a hell of a lot more hard data to base their decisions off of than we do when it comes to the popularity and sales of G.I. Joe over the years. That doesn't mean they can't make missteps, but it still remains to be seen if that will be the case here. |

Let's expand Captain America to include other parts of the world and call him Captain America. Because the real Captain America isn't about jingoism and blind loyalty to his nation (which is exactly what most of the "patriots" in this thread are basically espousing), and hasn't been for oh...several decades now. Even earlier than the 80's...stretching all the way back to the "Secret Empire" storyline of the 70's. Though I would note: There's probably one single reason why the upcoming movie isn't just called "Captain America." It's called "The First Avenger: Captain America." Even MARVEL Studios itself is making that title in the hopes that the Avengers tie will be enough to get international audiences interested. In fact, without that Avengers tie-in, I'm betting Captain America wouldn't be getting made. Marvel admitted for years that making a big-budget Captain America movie was difficult because it was almost guaranteed to be a failure in international markets. Its not absolutely certain at all. You only believe they have more hard data.
