Am I alone in thinking that Hollywood is going too young with actors for some of these roles? Not only in GI Joe but also in the Justice League movie. It seems that they want to create a franchise and scoop up these kinds under contract while they are young so they can keep them for years to come. The problem with that is you have a Cobra Commander who looks fresh out of high school and a Superman who still is in high school. I'm kind of glad they put Justice League on the shelf when I heard who they wanted to cast in these roles. Anybody else have any thoughts?

Well I don't know if they're too young, yet. After all we don't even know if the movie is about the beginning of G.I. Joe or if they're seasoned veterans.
But I do agree that Cobra Commander is being played by a kid who looks just way too young. Yet, even then, we still don't know what this Commander's story is until we watch it. So, I think I'll save most of my judgments until I see the movie.

I have thought from the very beginning that SOME of the actors were too young…I mean, are they gonna go the route like in Batman Begins where Commissioner Gordon was only a Lieutenant and make all the Joes privates?

i mean what is this... 9021joe? the Joe-C? destro's creek? and as far as JLA...megan gale was the only one in the alleged cast who was right for the role. not saying she was the perfect wonder woman, but she was the closest in terms of actor/actress to character. sorry about the old, molded references to teen dramas....i like em. |

Um...none of this actors are teenagers, nor do they look it. And it has been said before on many other threads, but how old do you think people in the military are? Even in the elite special forces? My best friend from high school went into BUDS when he was 25 and he was one of the 2 or 3 oldest guys in his group. Hawk should be a little older, Duke can reasonbly be late 20s-early 30s, maybe a bit older...everybody else can be anywhere from 18-27.

this was my response to a casting a while back and explains why, to ME at least, the cast seems young, although they may be just right

i also said, in capital letters, "FOR THE MOST PART"... i know that one kid hasn't been cast as Duke yet, but he is also "teeny boppery" to me... i don't know about you guys, but when i was a kid, Christopher Reeves seemed old (in a way an older guy seems to a kid) to me, and he was only 25 for Superman I...now myself @ 31, when i look @ Routh, he seems like a kid even though he was 26 when Returns was made, older than Reeves was when i first saw him...and although i am 31, Reeves still holds that mature look i got from him as a child...my point is, without a "mature" (read older) cast, it's gonna be hard for me to buy "One Tree Hill" defending the world... i know i don't have a choice, and i will absolutely still see the movie, but that was just my observation, kinda young |

A good percentage of those enlisted are 18-30 right now. We just need to face it, we are getting older and not everything can remain the way we saw it when we were 8 years old. |

I don't care for these characters to be older than me but lets face it, the GI Joe team is made up of seasoned veterans and the best young recruits. For their rank most of them should not be that old but on the other hand Duke has passed on an officers commission on more than one occasion. Back to Cobra Commander, Joseph Gordon-Levitt may be a good actor but he still comes off as very young. True we should wait until the movie comes out before judging it but for me it looks like the casting is very questionable.

Excellent Points....I guess I still view the joes as older than me...but as stated in your example, that just isn't the way it is or would be... Mr. Savage |
