Ok many believe that NATO formed the team but I got a sinking feeling it was not them who gave the original authority.
Did General Hawk have something to do with this? Did he carry this idea to the Joint Chiefs then they took the idea to the President who then referred it to NATO? The Pit maybe be located outside the U.S but who believes that Hawk only answers to the President of the United States and the Joint Chiefs of Staff? I never read the Prequel novel so thats why I am asking this question. |

I think it had something to do with General Flagg and General Austin, not positive though. Sorry just realised you're talking about the roc origins.

I'm sure the US, being part of the permenant security council, pushed hard for an american to be in charge of the unit.

Colton? JFK?
"According to General Colton's 1994 file card, he graduated with the highest honors from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1960. He was recruited for Special Forces, and later became a Green Beret. In 1963, he was appointed by then President John F. Kennedy to create and command an "ULTIMATE freedom fighting force." It was at this time that he received the code name G.I. Joe." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/General...lton_(G.I._Joe)

A Colton cameo would rock! Not sure who could play him.

It's not covered in the novel. To the best of my memory. Maybe it'll be covered in the sequel.
