When asked...
What differences are there between you playing Ripcord and what we saw on the cartoon series? Marlon Wayans: The main thing is that the character is black in the film. I've played a drug addict in 'Requiem for a Dream,' a thief in 'The Ladykillers' and a white girl in 'White Chicks,' so I can play any part. Rachel Nichols is also my romantic interest in the film, which wasn't part of the cartoon series. ------------------------------------------------------------------- This is the first I have heard Wayans himself give a legit factualize-ation on the love interest angle. I read the screenplay and hoped the dropped this bit...but they didn't. I kinda dislike this a lot because the characters were never intertwined. Now Ripcord has an interest in Scarlett? I just think it's useless storytelling personally. It's context the movie is going to use, and waste time for other cool stuff. It'll be funny-ish banter between the characters but won't fit overall. I feel to have this in the movie detracts from the nature of the film. I understand it's formulaic to write it in this way. But I feel that this is the last movie that needs to pull out this stupid "love-interest card." b eyond my dislike, there is an interest, of course, to see how this plays out onscreen- because like I said, I think it's completely useless to have this angle in the story. |

This whole movie is almost enough to make me ashamed to be a Joe fan. Not enough, but close. I already know that I'll have to make a very fine distinction between what I do enjoy about G.I. Joe and my appaled hatred of whatever this is suposed to be ('cuz, IMHO, this IS NOT G.I. Joe)

He's right though. Some actors can perform well in any role. Too bad he is not one of those actors. I was watching TV the other night and saw some show called E talking all about the upcoming GI Joe movie. They had a long segment about Brendon Frazier's role in the movie and how the combined sex appeal of Sienna Miller, Channing Tatum and Brendon Frazier would draw in both male and female audiences. They also talked a bit about the action sequences drawing in the same crowds that go see any good blow 'em up movie. The funny thing is, they only mentioned Marlon Wayans once, in passing. It seemed to me that the movie's publicists want to get fans focused on the good actors and action sequences instead of the bad comic relief.

i dont understand why movies all have the same format.it is like every movie is basically the same.all these super hero movies and such.
i dont see why they cant just mimic the things that made the hero or series the way they were that made them popular in the first place. like transformers could have been taken place in the 80's , everyone has old ass cars and stupid hair. same with g i joe.it should all take place withing 10 and 15 years after the vietnam war. yeah so ford or whomever pays big bucks to have their cars in the movie. i want to see the cars transform simply. same for g i joe. people want to see familure cobra troops and joes that are in relation. why must movie storys all be so similar. introduction to characters, pre battle scene, throw in a few ha,ha's then closing fight scene. what a shame. i had more imagination and made up better stories when i was in 3rd grade. for example i would pile up like 4 guys on scarlett.she want to be treated like a hoe, so she was. screw all this love story crap in every action movie

Gotta be honest, they slapped together the Ripcord character in this flick.

Mark my words - RoC is going to be right up there with "Mario Bros.", "Street Fighter", "Double Dragon" and the recent "Dragonball Z
movie. |

As for the G.I. Joe movie, the only characters that I think they got halfway right are Snake Eyes, Baroness, and Storm Shadow. I am so tired of this everyone has to wear black outfits trend for superhero movies. The resistance outfits in Terminator Salvation look more like G.I. Joe characters than the G.I. Joe movie outfits do.
